Everyone in this thread is suffering from some sort of serious psychosocial mental illness. If you are new to watches do not read these threads. Do not participate in them. There is nothing worthwhile here, no real help, no useful info. Just bizarre jealousy and anger masquerading as superiority, people who can't afford $50 watches tearing down people who can afford $500 watches for not affording $5000 watches. Insane post purchase rationalization. The weirdest gayest gatekeeping I have ever seen

Go to literally any other watch source but this, seriously

Thanks to /wt/, I made up my mind that this Aquaracer was the one I wanted to top off my watch collection. After owning several Citizen's, I felt it was time to do a proper upgrade and spend a little (#YOLO!). This community helped me decide the brand and model that fit my taste. The requirements were a) dive watch; b) automatic; and c) blue dial. These specs counter what I have currently in my collection.

After pouring through countless posts, reviews, and YT videos, I decided on the Aquaracer. At the store, I debated further between the nylon strap or steel bracelet. In the end, steel won because I can always buy a nylon or rubber strap for much cheaper than buying the steel bracelet separately.

Now I'm happily wearing this beauty and even happier to be part of the Tag club. Thanks for the inspiration, y'all!

Okay lads, suggest me a first watch.

Budget: maximum of around $100, preferably less

Watch type: I don't know. Important thing is that it is okay to wear in casual settings. I'm a student so not many "formal" occasions where I wear anything fancier than some chinos and a nice shirt or w/e.

Desired bracelet: Anything leather or metal. I prefer leather but anything goes.

Wrist size: ~~16mm, maybe a bit more. 38mm watch preferred as a result.

I visited an authorized Rolex dealer today and put a full retail deposit on a Z Blue Milgauss today. By putting down a full deposit I am #2 on the waiting list for this watch. I inquired about models like the Hulk Sub and Batman GMT and was told that in both cases there were three other people with full retail deposits, so I'd likely be looking at a 2-3 year wait.

Anyone out there with any experience being waitlisted by a Rolex AD? I'm excited for my watch to come in, but I'm not exactly holding my breath for it to show up soon.

I realized I cant afford a truly nice watch and it would look stupid on me anyways given my current financial situation. However I still want something to wear for special occasions (I have a shitter for work).
I dont want to go for classic looks like a Bambino because that just feels like the poor mans version of the real thing. Instead I would like to embrace it and get a true meme watch that is not trying to copy luxory. Maybe something a bit ugly, 24 hour dial, or just a bit weird or funny.

You might get lucky in random smaller towns or airport dealers where there isn’t the same amount of clients on a waiting list. Most often if you go into a dealer (assuming you’re not a client) they’ll put you on a multi-year waitlist or just not put you on the list at all. If you’re able to buy it, you’d pay retail - ADs don’t mark up unless they’re shady or running a pre-owned business. In theory you could just flip it and get a quick profit, but Rolex hates it and punishes dealers that have too many flippers, so unless you’re already a “known quantity” to the dealer they often won’t bother putting you on a list in the first place

omega is shit buddy the brand is propped up on nothing but marketing. the only notoriety is from celebrity endorsements (see: james bond movies), and ""going to the moon"". I guess you don't want to mention how the backup watch was a pos bulova, which also passed those eXtrEme!! testing standards, or how the ""certified space watch"" literally failed in space as the crystal popped out the phukin watch. rolex has actual chops, they are:

1. the first watch to earn a chronometer certification
2. the first functioning waterproof watch (speedy hasn't done that yet to date)
3. the first automatic winding watch
4. the first watch with a phukin date function
5.first watch with a gmt function
6. AND first watch with a day and date function

everybody knows rolex. so much in fact that the most replicated watch in the world is rolex watches. ask any joe schmoe on the street to think of a "watch" and they will likely think of a datejust.

omega simply cannot compete at this level, it's a phuking scam of a company, riding on the coattails of superior luxury watch brands

I'm not defending rado by any means, they are just overpriced chink bait but to dive 100m is not an easy task.
A recreational diver will have to train and learn a lot of stuff even to go below 66 meters.
So that depth rating is perfectly fine, rado knows it's customers nobody will dive in it.

https://youtu.be/_1idZQu_fqI

It's obvious in the real world a fake is a fake.

Go buy a shitter fake, take it into an AD and ask to try on the real thing, they'll look the same but the differences will be obvious.

If you cant afford the real thing you're better off spending $1000-$2000 on some shitter, like other anon says at least you can sell and service it.
