Yes, we're talking finishing here. No one makes perfect fit endlinks except for Rolex. Not shilling but I read somewhere gs intentionally doesn't do a perfect fit, sounds like bullshit though and I don't remember the source so don't quote me on that. Nevertheless the dial, hands and indices GS has no equal in it's price range. Cases are mostly hueg but finished nicely too.

omega is shit buddy the brand is propped up on nothing but marketing. the only notoriety is from celebrity endorsements (see: james bond movies), and ""going to the moon"". I guess you don't want to mention how the backup watch was a pos bulova, which also passed those eXtrEme!! testing standards, or how the ""certified space watch"" literally failed in space as the crystal popped out the phukin watch. rolex has actual chops, they are:

1. the first watch to earn a chronometer certification
2. the first functioning waterproof watch (speedy hasn't done that yet to date)
3. the first automatic winding watch
4. the first watch with a phukin date function
5.first watch with a gmt function
6. AND first watch with a day and date function

everybody knows rolex. so much in fact that the most replicated watch in the world is rolex watches. ask any joe schmoe on the street to think of a "watch" and they will likely think of a datejust.

omega simply cannot compete at this level, it's a phuking scam of a company, riding on the coattails of superior luxury watch brands

Budget: 5000usd, but could stretch it some

I want a watch that's kind of dressy, but masculine and robust. I like chronographs and divers, and already own a Seamaster 300m but it doesn't cut it somehow. I kind of like Panerai, but can't help but dislike the brand a lil bit for the things they've done in recent years.

Any suggestions pls?

>In your 20’s collect…Sports/Tool Watches
Selected watch: A Rolex Submariner (or a sports watch from a respectable brand – Omega, TAG Heuer, Breitling, Oris…)
>In your 30’s collect…Vintage Watches
Selected watch(es): a vintage Chronograph with style and pedigree (a 1960s Omega Speedmaster of course, a vintage Longines, a TAG Heuer Chronograph Carrera / Monaco / Autavia or even a vintage Rolex Daytona if you can afford it)
>In your 40’s collect…Complicated Watches
Selected watch(es): a Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar - or a Jaeger Le-Coultre Master Tourbillon, a Breguet Tradition, a A. Lange & Söhne Datograph… Everything that combines high-end movement, brand’s reputation and great elegance.
>In your 50’s collect…Independent Watches
Selected watch(es): mostly, depends on your style and hobbies. If you want elegance, a Laurent Ferrier or a FP Journe. If you want bold and sporty watches, Richard Mille. If you want extreme watchmaking, MB&F or URWERK.
>In your 60’s and beyond collect…Grail Watches
Selected watch: THE one, the watch that you always dreamed about. Something so personal, thought about for so long that we can’t even guide you anymore. It can go from that ultra-rare steel chronograph from the 1950s, to the most complex watch ever or that quite simple watch that reminds you of your grandfather. And because you have achieved such a point in collecting watches, it’s time for us to leave the choice to you and you only.

And of course, here are the starter watches:

1. A Rolex Submariner
2. TAG Heuer Carrera Automatic or Formula 1 Calibre 16 Chronograph
3. An Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch
4. IWC Pilot’s Watch
5. Nomos Tangente

Well, apple knows their customers, faggots and retards. If i were gay i'd be very annoyed with the corporate pandering, especially during pride month. But everybody is just an attention whore and loves that stuff.

Anyway, the best thing that came from the apple watch is their hermes edition font. I love the color and the way the roman numerals are designed. Already tried to find a live wallpaper for my android phone to have as a watch but there are none. So i'll just get a rectangular watch widget with only watchhands and replicate the numerals in photoshop and set the picture as background on my phone.

I always hated omegas divers but their new seamasters, especially the blue, two tone one look awesome.
I mostly like it because of the silicon band tho.
The date placement looks way way better and does not ruin the dial symmetry like the standard 3 o clock date, imo.
>>14382954
Yeah, makes little sense. Maybe they left them on because they were used to them so much that they did not annoy them and forgot to take them off. Or they wanted to take their personal watches to space to give one to their kid afterwards.
Whatever it is, the moonwatch meme needs to end, it's so tiresome already.

It's strange how my taste changed. I hated any gold on watches before but now with 29 i like two tone and some full gold watches. I am probably bored with the regular stainless steel look after seeing so many watches.
Or maybe i like the nice contrast and comfy color. But yeah, two tone looks like shit when you pair it with boomer style clothes. On a well dressed dude you don't even notice the watch, even if it isn't color matched.

To each their own. But yeah, some pieces with gold look super gaudy. It all depends on the person wearing them and how the rest of the watch is designed. Def. can understand where this two tone=gaudy and cheap association comes from.
That would not stop me from wearing one.

You know what goes nicely with a full gold watch? A concealed carry gun. Don't let nig nogs stop you from having nice stuff.
If they want they will try to rob you no matter how poor you look.
Have some practice, don't just buy a gun and assume you will handle the situation correctly. Learn some situational awareness to see a mugging coming. Also dont walk with short sleeves at night.

ETA calibers (mechanisms), come in 4 basic flavours: base, elaborate, top and chronometre.

Top and chronometre are the same, only the chronometre ones are better regulated and sent for Cosc certification.

Then, brands that source their calibers from ETA can refinish or modify them. Tudor for example uses Top grade but heavily modified, but doesnt bother to send them for Cosc certification... All marketing strategies.

Breitling uses Chronometre grade when outsources from ETA. Tag uses a mix of Elaborate, Top... rebranded/licensed Seiko stuff... you never know what shit is inside a Tag Huehuehue.

to be fair you have to have a very high IQ to be able to appreciate Grand Seikos, their quality is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of haute horology most of the little details will go over a typical idiot savant's head. There is also a Grand Seiko's prospect of value, which is deftly woven into the handling and finishing of components -- their attention to detail draws heavily from other perfectionist brands, like Rolex and Patek Philippe, for example. GS owners understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depth of care and attention put into these watches, to realize they aren't just pretty, they say something deep about TASTE. As a consequence people who dislike Grand Seikos truly ARE idiots

I’ve never posted on the watch thread before but I was genuinely curious for some feedback on experiences with this brand of watch.
I recently learned that single hand, 24 hour watches exist and I really love the concept. I was originally interested in svalbard watches buy they just seemed cheaply constructed. While searching for other options Botta kept popping up and appear to be a really decent watch company out of Germany.
What so you think of Botta as a watch company in general?

No idea who they are before checking it out, and it seems they are just using modified ETA 2824.2's which is the bog standard of the Swiss watchmaking industry for decades (modified or not). And the company itself appears to be a another microbrand syndrome, as the quartz version is 500eurokekels while the mechanical\automatic version is another 1000.

You could just buy one of the Luch onehander's if you really want a onehander, or a vintage watch.
