I really like heritage brands. I like the fifty fathoms, anything JLC, the montblanc monopushers that use Minerva movements (although this is decidedly out of my price range).

I've lusted over 36mm Rolex Explorers for a while now. I'm not that successful so I don't consider myself Rolex material. Technically I have the money but I'm not sure I can justify spending that much. Lately I've been looking at Tudor Black Bay 36s and they have me interested. Most Tiffany watches are not very expensive. Rose gold versions are at around $10k but their average steel watch is only around $5k. Expensive compared to a Seiko? Yes. Expensive compared to an AP? No. You get what you pay for which for Tiffany’s means brand recognition and good external finishing with a serviceable movement. I'm 31 and a millionaire. I have a Timex weekender with 5 bands. Total cost about $50.

It's my favourite watch and nothing else is close. I like it because it's timeless and it goes with everything in my wardrobe, it's comfortable and if it gets scratched or I lose it, IDGAF.

The downside is that girls probably think I'm poor.

I really hate most watches I see, I find them tacky. Most of the $2-6k watches I see men wearing, just scream "Bro spent more than he could afford on something he doesn't have a clue about, so that he can show off" It's very cringe.

Short answer is even just by looking at the case I can immediately tell it's a fake as Day-Dates never came in steel & gold. It's always cased in a precious metal.
