It's a hard question for me too. I think the unique aspects will come when you start to push out of your boundaries into what you fear but want with clothing.

How to adapt your style to not be a basic bitch? I wear only jeans, plain tees, bombers etc, everything looks alright, colors are fine, but it is so fucking basic I look like I just raided H&M.
How to start being more effay? I feel like if I buy one outstanding piece I like, it won't match the rest of my stuff at all. See pic related as example, I really liked that jacket but since I don't look like him and don't have the rest of that fit it would just look goofy on me. Is there any trick?

maybe try upgrading the pieces you already have into nicer things? your basics can stay, but try and replace things.
take a nice bomber and buy a better one, maybe with different details at a higher price point
jeans too. if you like light wash for example, try to replace them with a higher quality fit and build, rinse and repeat.

Look at random pictures of people until you find things you like and take them and incorporate them into your fit with no regard as to whether or not they match
Also make sure that they're tailored towards your body shape and you're golden
