Some of my recommended cheapies would be Dunhill Icon, John Varvatos Artisan Pure, Bvlgari Aqua and or Atlantique, cheap blue frags like Coach for men, jimmy cho ice, Mercedes Benz (clone of Dior Homme cologne), Encre Noire Sport. There are probably a lot more that I can't think of right now. God speed.

People who jerk themselves off over Aventus are the worst.
Describing a fragrance as “beastmode” is an extraordinarily irritating, dudebro thing to do.
This forum is 90% guys discussing the same six (male) fragrances over and over.
People who wear scents not for their own enjoyment but for compliments have no sense of identity.

>> No.14359401

Neither has good longevity but ES is the much, much better scent. It's lighter, fresher, more balanced, while the Parfum (at least the current version, it's been remade a bunch of times) smells like a waxy amber.

Supposedly it was made to smell like the original, but I've smelled versions from as early as the late 70s and it doesn't smell anything like that.

I get the slight blue fragrance hit, but the performance is rather poor, quickly turned into a skin scent and didn't really project. I would just buy the one EDT and spray even in the summer, it's performance is just as bad and it won't matter even if you over spray.

Similar in the sense that they both have a green, aromatic, almost medicinal quality, but one is bright and citrusy and one is warm and slightly dirty.

Any recs? I did like Versace PH but it didn't last a shift for me. Debating AHS but I'm not 100% sure of it. I'd try Neroli Portofino since Mugler Cologne was nice on my skin but it was just a tad too soapy for me. However the price of NP is a bit much for my minimum wage job.

It's also a noticeably stronger than the real thing. I put on 5 sprays in the Walmart parking lot and went anosmic to it almost instantly. These two factors make it veer almost into Axe territory, or almost exactly like the Suave Sport Hairgel for a second, but there's a nice creamy woodiness that pulls it out and back into shaving foam/barbershop territory.

This might be THE ultimate terrorwave fragrance if you're in America. Seriously, whoever would spend the $8 on this instead of real Drakkar (which is only like $10 more) must be an actual criminal. Godly stuff bros

Anyway, my skin hate me, i tried Sauvage EdT, smell like shit, but last 6-7 hours on me, then i tried Terre d'hermes, love it but he does not love me, only last 4 fucking hours. Has someone tried the Intense Vetiver or the parfum version ? is longevity somehow better?

Bamboo Harmony By Kilian is really beautiful, I cant really pick out individual notes though. The first thing that comes to mind when I smell it is a womans cosmetic bag, which is odd because its not powdery or lipsticky, it just kind of smells like a wealthy, clean woman. Its kind of generic, yet I haven't smelled anything like it.

Despite my description, the right guy could definitely pull it off, its not overtly feminine. I would absolutely wear it, but like everything I have tried from By Kilian, I'm not sure its worth its price.

What exactly makes a fragrance “boring”? Sauvage is probably the best example. Fragrance reviewers pretty much across the board describe it as being a great but generic scent. I’m not s fragrance expert by any means, but I have smelled most of the popular men’s designer fragrances at various stores, and apart from Luna Rossa carbon and other clones, I really haven’t found many fragrances that smell particularly like Sauvage. There are plenty of fragrances in the same genre, but every fragrance falls into one genre or another so really that could be said of anything. I could understand having a problem with it because of its popularity, it’s definitely a victim of its own success at this point, but people were calling it generic since it’s release. I’d say Sauvage, Bleu de Chanel and Dylan Blue are the three big ones that get compared to one another, but I don’t think any of them smell terribly similar to one another, apart from the fact that’s they’re all fresh aromatic style fragrances. Aventus (and a lot of other Creeds for that matter) also falls into that category, but nobody ever calls that generic.

>> No.14363351

Boring depends on who is saying it and why. I’d consider Prada L’Homme to be boring but it’s also one of my favourites and I wouldn’t hesitate to say it’s a 10/10. It’s just that it being boring is why I like it. It smells incredible, but because of its linearity it’s boring. But as a result of that it’s inoffensive, it’s subtle, it’s pleasant and in no way obnoxious.

And I would skip any Tom Ford 'freshie' and go and sample all of the blue mediterraneo line from Acqua di Parma - I absolutely love Fico di Amalfi. The citruse fragrances are lovely as well. Go for Ginepro for a more mature smell, the juniper is really good.
That being said I would not buy samples of these fragrances, and would just go to a Sephora (or Douglas if you are European) to sample them. The moschino one might not be available in store tho.

I would consider a fragrance boring based on multiple criteria. First would be the fragrance's complexity and how it evolves from opening to drydown - I will use Mugler's Alien and Womanity, as both have rather simple formulation but the blends are classes appart. The first is a patchouli (actually paradisione) bomb with a muddy amber base, doesn't change at all. Stays as annoying as it starts. The later has a interesting and challenging caviar opening but quickly transitions to the sweet pulpy fig. The drydown is a gorgeous creamy fig.
The second criterion would be based on it's wearability. Most of the blue frags are basically dumb grabs for all around the year irrelevant of the season. There is nothing daring about wearing dylan blue or adg profumo (sauvage edt was pretty daring at first, it really projected massively and could be a little too much if you weren't used to unwanted attention).
This leaves me to my last reason and that is it's popularity, if you smell sauvage all the damn time everywhere you go it'll get boring real fast.

>> No.14363872

>>14363839
>Try in store.
sure, that's fine if you plan on trying out only a couple of scents. you can wear one on each wrist for the day, but otherwise you don't get any real idea of how a fragrance works with you just by test strips or by sniffing the bottle beyond the opening which is gone after like the first hour anyway. with decants, even just 1mL, you can get a few days with one and really decide.

Bro paradisone is not a patchouli aromachemical, it's supposed to be a jasmine aromachemical (it's an enantiomer of hedione). Also, it wasn't even invented when Alien came out. Alien uses hedione.

I’ve never really bought the whole “generic” angle when it came to Sauvage. As others have pointed out, it’s definitely linear and a lot of people have a problem with that. But Francois Demachy set out to make an any time dumb reach fragrance that could be used year round, and the popularity of Sauvage indicates he did a damn good job of that. Trouble is, if you’re going to make something that appeals to everyone at any time, it can’t really be all that unique. The things that make fragrances “interesting” to enthusiasts tend to make them less appealing to a broader audience. Sauvage in particular also gets a lot of hate because Dior as a house used to be thought of as somewhat Avant Garde as far as designer houses go. Fahrenheit had that weird gasoline accord, L’homme has the very feminine iris note everyone talks about. Both of those are very popular fragrances but they tend to appeal to more specific demographics. Sauvage appeals to just about everyone.

Also, Creed is pretty boring for a Niche house imo. Aventus is a huge meme, but I don’t find it spellbinding for what it’s worth. Maybe that has to do with the fact that I was introduced to it fairly late in the game after its DNA had been aped a million times, but I would put it on par with Bleu de Chanel and Sauvage and other safe scents. It’s less synthetic for sure but has a similar vibe.

MI is probably my favorite overall, actually. Also a fan of Royal Oud, though that one smells a bit old manish in the opening and isn’t super versatile. The drydown is exquisite, though. I love Viking as well, but that one’s quite divisive and definitely not a safe blind buy. It’s strong, it’s minty, it’s spicy, it’s kind of a fougere, kind of a barbershop scent, but kind of not. Worth trying if you haven’t already.

i was at the beginning. no, before the beginning, so far before that any end that could have been seen was more terrifying that i could imagine. i knew nothing. kouros told me nothing. i was nothing, and along the path was that ugly futility. i didn't belong here, i thought. is it my interest? is it kouros' interest? it's words burned into my skull but with no single direction to follow them. i didn't care anymore. if there was a scheme or some clever caper i didn't care. it was a matter of mechanically following orders or by charity, but nothing that truly interested me. i've been somewhere but i don't know where i am or have gone. elsewhere is where i want to be, and i don't know where it is. kouros can take me or kill me, i thought. i didn't care. my mind peopled with the most mundane, drab. but in the grey mass shone an aura. eyes bright, more than a husk. a meaningful thing. a vitality that seemed to birth from the wilting like sunrays on a dying flower. i could feel the fire in my heart and i looked up, ahead.

Hello, I'm the vanillafag from a few days ago

I tried your suggestions when i got to the stores but they either smelled too sweet or bitter for my taste.
However, I found the fragrance I was searching for thanks for the clerk.
It's "Vanille Extreme" by Comptoir Sud Pacifique
https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Comptoir-Sud-Pacifique/Vanille-Extreme-Eau-de-Parfum-12660.html
Fragranticia says that it smells a little bit powdery, but it's not the case.
This fragrance reminds me of pastry haha

Anyway, I wanted to say thank for giving me suggestions

It's more or less wholly unrelated to the original Aqva. Atlantiqve is the Bvlgari entree into ambroxan land. It's not a Sauvage-like, as it has a bit of Mont Blanc Legend in its mix.
