As someone who's into watches and not retarded with popular culture, I've tried to take note of what types of watches are mentioned in rap songs.

Rolex is obviously there, but Patek might be no. 1 lately. I'm not sure that people realize it's a watch, though.

Beyond this, I've heard occasional mentions of Audemars as well as Richard Mille. The latter was somewhat veiled and not going to be understood by a normie.

Pic related is a pic I took of a RM display in Quebec. Keep in mind I was pretty drunk

>I don’t think most people could even name 5. They would probably say Rolex and Omega, and then go for general luxury brands like Gucci. Maybe more people know Audimar Piguet due to the Royal Oak being popular among celebs but that’s about it.
That's the thing, I asked people about Omega and NO ONE knew what it was even remotely. No one heard of the Speedmaster. I asked about TAG Heuer, two people out of 5-6 knew about it. Rolex, everyone knew it. Festina, everyone knew it. Seiko, Timex, Casio, everyone knew those.

This is in Central Europe mind you and this was mostly guys and one woman, I'm sure that the kind of women who follow Instagram whores know the brands they market for example.

I can kind of believe that, although my anecodotal evidence is that most people in my circles have heard of it. UK here btw. Maybe it’s rise in popularity though Bond is the reason. That’s when I first heard of it as a kid.

In my experience 50% of female friends/coworkers knew Omega (although one time sticks in my mind where one woman thought my Seamaster was a rolex, even though I have my doubts she even knows what a sub looks like)

Most of my male coworkers and friends know of it. Most of my male work colleagues have some interest in watches though. My boss is a Panerai guy, another really likes IWC, one guy has a Baume et Mercier, etc.

My father just returned home from a business tip. He knows that I have lately been very interested in watches, so he was thoughtful and bought me a gift.

A Tommy Hilfiger watch. Obviously my father is clueless when it comes to timepieces, and this is certainly not a watch I would buy for myself. But even though it’s a fashion watch I can’t say I hate it. It’s aesthetically rather pleasing, and i can use it as a day-to-day watch. Part 3/3. The rounded interior corner at the bottom is how it comes out of the CNC machine, in mass-produced serialised watches this corner is most commonly just chemically polished, or in more common higher-end mass-produced pieces, it's polished by hand with the aide of a mechanical hand tool.

In very expensive pieces though, such as those coming from independent watchmakers, that rounded interior corner is filed as shown in this video until there is a sharp interior corner formed. This bevel or anglage is then polished until it shows no scratches under magnification.

Top of the line, million dollar machines in house and Moser is one of the very few manufactures out there that produce their own balance springs. If with all those r&d teams, machines, and know-how, and yet they're still unable to do anglage with sharp interior corners by machine, what makes you think you yourself can do it? >>14356993

truly underrated but i sold mine to fund a datejust. they just can't escape their place as the beginner or "bargain" rolex.

if you don't care about that design-wise it's pretty nice and historic as it was the first rolex ever made and still shares the same design. it's also the only rolex you can wear without offending poorfags

Some old salary rates I've seen for beginner watchmakers in Switzerland is 3-4k. I'll only start earning after I find a job after I graduate. For Glashütte the average for watchmakers, not beginners is 1,8k - with senior watchmakers complaining about their wages all across the board from Lange to Nomos. I haven't found how much the tuition fee costs in Germany/Glashütte though.

the second patek offers interior anlage by machine, its desirability is decreased and they are stuck with increased production costs because they are using more complex machine. why do that when they can just pass hand finishing costs to the consumer with a 10x markup?

and shitter brands don't do machined inner anlage to 'up stage' patek because their target audience doesn't jerk themselves off over such small details. if timex started doing polished inner corners, their consumers would be like 'why the fuck do i want to pay $10 more for that shit?'

no its not diamond. almost all jewel bearings are corundum (ruby/sapphire). Some are clear.

>Wonder why more high end watchmakers don't choose different gemstones?

Why would they.

Corundum is already one of the hardest gemstones at 9 Mohs and has a very well studied and predictable friction coefficient. Corundum-steel and diamond-steel have almost the same friction coefficient so there is not any real benefit from using diamond over ruby

Plus it can be synthesized very easily, cheaply much more so than synthetic diamonds
synthetic gems are also much more homogeneous than natural gems

Diamond is still sometimes rarely used by some manufacturers
but it is not common because it is much harder than ruby so therefore much more difficult to cut, shape, polish and work with. Ruby is very hard too but it can be worked on with diamond tipped tools

>currently owned by a jap so it must be because of weebfaggotry
or you know, he has a history of milking money and selling data so he made an investment in retarded weebs buying 4chan passes

You could be posting anywhere but instead you chose the weebiest site there is. If you hate weebs why post here? Are you fucking stupid or something?
Do you hate fags all day and hang out in gay clubs too?

Back line will probably be Sorc+something else, is anyone really knowledgeable about the Eldritch Arcana Oracle class? I would like to make either a healing Oracle (to avoid the Cleric which I just don't like as a class), or a heavy DPS one if it's possible.

Buddy you don't even know what a weeb is. I just find it funny whenever some stupid cunt like you goes to a website geared towards a certain type of userbase and then whines about the primary userbase. What a retarded piece of shit.

Ignore these faggots weebs bro I'm with you. I get this same attitude on this anime discord I frequent, like, why even have an "other" category if people can still post anime? If there is a forum for talking about food on myanimelist then I wanna see food, but then I see fucking dumbass pedos posting anime shit and somehow I'm the bad guy for complaining about it. It's like they don't even know how to read the thread topics, I avoid all the anime stuff.

If you care about how you are perceived, go for a watch that is respected in your social envornment, looks for the better option for the lower price, and then chose another watch that speaks to YOU and only YOU, that's the watch that will make you happy, the first one is for work
