Well, the big secret is that a summerly fedora or panama does not look bad when you wear it with a suit. It is very hard to combine hats with non-suits from my experience. Then again, I am biased and also like boater hats.

Understandable. Some less formal hats like a porkpie or tribly may help? Your typical cowbow hat may work with a rough outfit. Or this Australian company whose name I always forget. Makes some nice hats.

I think wearing a boater hat in the 21st century makes you look like a barber shop quartet crooner and i really don't see a way to pull it off but I respect your courage.
I'm sure somebody could probably rock a straw panama hat and not look like a tool, but I haven't seen anyone under like age 50

I absolutely fucking hate how male hats are viewed today.
You can't casually wear one without looking like a dork or tryhard.
Everything has to be carefully planned around it, the rest of your attire, age, weather have to be matched perfectly.
There's not universal hat which will always suit everyone in every context like a white sneaker, or an OBCD.
Fuck, all I want is to cover my skin, not to make a statement.
Woman have it so much easier in this regard.
