When you DRY FAST, it's water. 24-48hrs doesn't do shit I know I've done it and I'm part of a group of people who regularly extended fast and try water fasting. It's largely bullshit especially when you eat salt again.

It's only use is kick-starting ketosis but you could also just plan it out right.

Started at 234lbs at 6'0". Now I'm 181.2 and when I sleep and wake up I'll be around 180.3-179.8 .

I lose about 1lb a day and generally when I eat, even for only a day after a week of fasting I'll regain 3-4lbs because of sodium until I'm at a 3-4 day fast after.

That's why I prefer to do long fasts but also I'm mid 20s and my body is used to this by now. I can't recommend this to younger developing bodies.

Figure out where you're going wrong in work, uni, sleep, food, stressors and exercise. Layout all the problems and then simplify where you can. For me, my medication for my anxiety, family stressors and shift work made me gain +10kg over a 6 month period.
Here's my step-by-step for the last 2 months
1:I started meal planning, reducing my sugar intake and sticking to 1800-1500cals (was previously roughly eating 2200 cals). Lot's of veggies, protein and fats.
2:Once I got used to that I began intermittent fasting (16/8, then 20/4) to help with the night shift/ digestive issues associated with stress IBS.
I did 1 & 2 over a 2-3 week period and made sure to take a really good quality vitamin as my eating habits have been shit. Pic related
3: caffeine fat burner for my night shifts and helping me get more energy for the gym.
4: Reducing my anxiety medication and distancing myself from some toxic family members
5: Now starting to cut down the cal intake and do more gym. Although I haven't lost as much as I would of liked, I haven't gained more.

May be going through vyvanse withdrawal soon and I need some tips fighting the urge to give into the increased appetite side effects.

To further explain my situation, I get the feeling my parents don't plan on paying for my meds next month because it's summer and of course, they think I won't need them, but last summer I went three months without medication and it sucked so much. For those who don't take vyvanse for adhd and rather take them because it's just easier to restrict that way, let me just say that going from having your ADD symptoms treated with meds to suddenly not having them treated at all is fucking brutal. As you can imagine, trying to avoid stress eating and eating out of boredom is incredibly difficult for someone with ADD that has poor impulse control and is constantly feeling understimulated. Last summer I went three months off of my meds (the longest i've ever gone) and ended up developing EDNOS/Bulimia. Don't know if that was a result of going of the meds or if that desire to eat out of boredom and mistake cravings for hunger is part of having ADHD. (I also learned that girls with ADD/ADHD like me, are more likely to suffer from binge eating and bulimia whereas girls with anorexia don't often have ADHD because they tend to have high levels of harm avoidance, which is a personality trait people with ADD/ADHD don't often have because people with ADD/ADHD don't tend to think of the consequences of their actions and are constantly looking for instant gratification).

Also, living with a loud, invasive, and verbally abusive dad made the whole withdrawal experience even more unbearable.

Anyway, is there anyone here who actually takes meds for ADD/ADHD, and if so, how do you fight off giving into the whole increased appetite thing when you do go off your meds? Is it at all possible to avoid weight gain when you go off them?

I like to do 18 hours about 3x a week and 16 the other days. I don't eat anything all day in until dinner time. I usually work out right before I break my fast and I still have tons of strength. I'm going "otter mode" so not trying to make massive gains. I'm already big enough just getting leaner.

Cons: It can be hard to cram in all the food that I need when I break my fast. Also I
have strong cravings for junk like ice cream, cheese and chocolate. More than before with a regular eating schedule. Those are my biggest issues. Anybody have a similar experience? How do you deal with this?

Pros: I was always around 12-13% body fat and with this I'm under 10%. My facial features are much more defined as well. I have less inflammation or puffiness. My mental focus is stronger than ever. I think my skin and hair is healthier as well. Also not needing to break for food in the daytime is liberating. I'm hooked.

For bread, I do eat Danish rugbrod and the German pumpernickel already. I also eat granny Smith apples as a treat. That seems to help curb the craving since they are a little sweet and very filling. I think with all of these bad things it's just best for me to not have them at the house at all. Like a big tub of ice cream, Costco sized block of dank aged English cheddar, or chocolate bars would be trouble. It's a constant temptation.

Perhaps someone here has similar circumstances to me, I have tried to lose weight for a year now and its just something I can't really do.
I work out 3 times a week but its just I eat too much.
Its not that I don't track calories but when I do I can only do it for like 4 days in a row without the weekend going around and me fucking up.
I grew up in a household where my family would always reward me with food for doing good in school, so I have been basically trained to think eating = good feelings.
I don't smoke, do drugs, I have been trying to stay away from alcohol because of its calories, but I'm not a strong enough human to stick to the caloric limits when I need something to pick me up.
I also just simply like food, I live in a boring place so very often the only thing I have to really look forward to after school/work is going and getting a meal which I have been anticipating the whole day. On the weekends, I look forward to trying out a new restaurant or cuisine.
This sort of mentality just doesn't facilitate weight loss.
And I really don't know what do do....

Some Intermittent Fasting advice?
I did 20:2 (or 2:20?) for about 2 weeks and it was great for me. I lost like 15lbs and was really happy but then I plateaued. Stopped losing for like a week and even went up a few lbs. I looked it up and I saw to add a cheat day once a week so your body doesn't get accustomed to IF. So I made that my cheat day and ate like normal and now it's been 4 days and I find it hard to go back to IF. I guess I don't have a question specifically, just any tips? Same, when I don't care about my weight, I eat like shit and maintain acceptable thinspo with my shirt on. But as I start working on getting leaner in case some fucking supernatural occurance comes along and I need to take my shirt off, everything becomes a chore.
