I think it's time /fa/ had a serious discussion about Docs.
It became clear to me why this board is so obsessed with them when I saw all the meetups and their pics. They showed that most people on this board are teenagers, manlets and they love to dress like school shooters, hence the all black and chunky commando soles. That's why people are constantly asking about Docs here.
The truth is, they're absolute trash. Mall-tier trash that you can find at your nearest Journeys. They're made in Thailand or China by literal sweatshop slaves. They have no shape, they're just formless blobs that make your feet look big and boxy. The leather is absolute trash and probably the worst part about them. It's more plastic than leather. The break-in is well known and notoriously bad. The soles are extremely soft and are the fastest wearing part of them. And they're not resolable as they're melted to the welt after being filled with air. The idea is nice but it doesn't offer a long life to the boot.
Docs are associated in most people's minds with lesbian dykes, edgy high schoolers in their rebellious phase, and skinheads. Like I said, after seeing all the pics from meetups it became clear that that is the largest demographic of /fa/, so it makes sense.
Do your self a favor and just keep looking instead of getting some Docs. Spend a little extra and get something with real leather and a proper Goodyear welt that can be resoled. If you're no longer a teenager and you wear Docs you will be judged as being childish. People will wonder why you're still dressed like that despite being a grown up.

Quality is pretty good for the price. The leather is soft and breaks in nicely. Stitching appears to be well done. It's a pretty barebones with a heel insert and no lining on the inside, which is exactly what it was made to be since it's a combat boot. You'll need to buy an insert and pull out the included one. Lug sole is completely more practical but the anti tracking is A E S T H E T I C, just be prepared to bust ass hydroplaning on wet surfaces.

Holy shit, that's absolutely wrong. Former military here, the first thing most soldiers do when they get out of basic training and are allowed to buy their own gear is they get new boots. "Issued" boots are the cheapest ones the military could buy in bulk. They find the cheapest ones and cut as many corners as possible because they buy millions at a time(assuming US military, other smaller countries buy them in smaller amounts). It's the same reason everything in the military breaks and is so shitty. "Military grade" is synonymous with being dogshit. There's a reason soldiers complain about their gear so much. I threw my issued boots in the garbage and never looked back.

If something is military grade or issued to soldiers, avoid it like the plague it probably is.

Where can I find boots of similar style (on photo is repro of oit-of-stock German WW2 Fallschirmjäger boots, but anything similar, old or modern will do).
Requirements are basically that it should be a slender boot, most importantly a slender sole (no craggy winter alpine shit, but wearable in all seasons). Also preferrably available to Eurofag (no fancy Yank-only brands).
Only thing somewhat acceptable I found are milsurp Austrian lightweight combat boots (but I don't want used stuff).
