I'm a big fan of versatile clothing and I like dressing down dressy items and dressing up more casual items. How do you turn a white dress shirt into a sophisticated punk look?

I understand that the person probably has a lot to do with it, but how do you achieve that sort of look, wholesale? Pic related isn't quite what I had in mind, but it's what got this idea in my head.

if you want to overdo it and look like a greenday cosplayer from 2004 pop your collar and misalign the buttons, then roll up the sleeves. Also if you are using a tie, a skinny black one loosely over it all.

Paul Newman is prep, not punk. Examine the style of classic rudies.

Impossible. You will look absolutely disgusting to those who are trying to look their best at any given time (which is the point of classic menswear).

I think >>14302416 is right, crudely defacing something as clean and trad as a white button-up sounds pretty punk (although I'll admit not knowing much about punk culture).

If you tall and lean or skinny, SLP is your friend if you going "sophisticated punk".
White button up shirt buttoned to the top, slim black leather jacket, black skinny jeans, sleek black boots (like wyatt 40 boot from SLP).
May be a bit more dressier side but it might fit your criteria of "sophisticated punk".

it's impossible to make a classic white shirt into 'punk' so to speak, but there is a crossover of 80s punk/new wave music with the aesthetic of Reagan/Thatcher individualist moods, although this may not be what you're trying to into?

Peter Hook for example in this? A more extreme example would be like some David Byrne fits or David Bowie eras I suppose

The punk aesthetic was a fad invented to sell Vivienne Westwood's clothes and the majority of it was formal wear made to look informal. Like, white dress shirts/blouses make up a lot of her stuff. This is real basic fashion history.

You need to have the face aesthetic for it. If you are a baby face fagg with big eyes you will never archive a punk look

You have to actually have a job that requires a collared shirt. No one will understand what the fuck you're doing if you're a NEET wearing an ocbd. Go sell mutual funds or insurance and dress more shabbily than your boss wants you to. There is nothing less punk than being unemployed and looking like you WANT to sell mutual funds, while there is something a little bit punk about HAVING to sell mutual funds and looking disheveled.

It's not exactly about what you wear, but how your body looks me thinks. James Dean, Marlon Brando, Paul Newman were decently fit, had good arms. From there follow their style
