I really like this aesthetic. So far I have tried to embrace it by buying some linen items like a linen utility dress and also some straw hats.

Absolutely. Must be a combination of ISTP autism, outdoorsmanship and seeing the Ghost and the Darkness at age 9.
This style of outfit has been pulled off very well by many classic menswear icons like Clark Gable in Mogambo or Roger Moore as James Bond.
It all, of course, depends on how far you are going with the style. Do you hint at it with a tan shirt / trousers combo or do you go all out with jacket, hat and boots?
With the latter you'll just look like an adventurer without an adventure in the concrete jungle, but will look pretty good in any less urban settings.
Keep in mind that this all implies that you actually visit the outdoors from time to time or, at least, look like it. Otherwise you'll end up resembling that one fat dentist who shot the lion.

This all said, I love this style as hunting wear and it can look very good in the correct environments. My main inspo is Val Kilmer as John Patterson from the Ghost and the Darkness.
Safari is not just a style, it's a way of life, so to say.

I am aware of that and it does sadly look like it has become a whole lot harder over the years.
Modern "safari tourism" sickens me. I don't want to go to Africa to sleep in silk sheets and stuff myself at a breakfast buffet.
But I do believe that where there is a will there must be a way to hunt Africa without a guide to hold your hand.
If not in the southern African countries, maybe East Africa. In any case it will probably prove to be pretty difficult.
At the moment I am occupied with looking for some Namibian farm that will let me work for them for a few months.

The only place this style fits is if you are the host of a travel show on cable TV, doing fake, staged, "exploration" of baited tourist traps.

Orvis is expensive and made for fat oafs. I bought a couple of linen shirts and had them tailored to fit me.

Filson is a bit more western and still really expensive but the tin cloth wide brimmed hat worked well in east africa.
