The thing I've never liked about the Black Bay is that it's just such a mish-mash of designs. They couldn't decide which generation of Tudor Sub to hearken back to, so they decided to try all of them at once.

Why a snowflake handset but not a snowflake dial a la the Pelagos or the old Tudor Subs? The Square part of the hour hand ends up being bigger than the actual hour markers.

In an attempt to further distance itself from the Sub, the slab-sides of the case end up looking crude and blocky, obviously a remnant of those mid-90s-2000s oversize watch thing.

I have box, no papers, never been polished, bracelet has no stretch at all. Omega bracelets rarely stretch actually. They're not comparable to Rolex of that era.

It's probably going to be hard to distinguish it from a fake if they faked that particular model.. Looking at Gucci's current watches on their website and the Ebay offerings that thing does seem to be in line with other '316L' watches they sell..

It's a quartz, so whether or not it can be repaired probably depends on the movement. It says 'Swiss made', so odds are it's some kind of ETA or other off the shelf movement, which means it can be replaced. If the seconds hand 'popped off' it might pop back on. If it broke, that's a problem..

"Worth to repair" in this case might be due to the fact that your dad gave it to.. If you're talking money, it's almost certainly not worth it. If you're talking horological meri, it's definitely not worth it.

Also, I never realised just how many butt-ugly watches Gucci markets at ridiculous pricepoints.. Googling around a bit is shocking. Who the fuck spends $2500,- on a gaudy gucci digital (!) watch?

It's all about making so that Tudor does not compete with Rolex directly. You either get the thick as fuck BBs with no dates, or the pretty Sub-like BB58 with that there faux-patina and also no date. In other words, they have to make sure that Tudors are not too good for what they are. Although one could argue that Tudor not being Rolex is a disadvantage in itself.

A bit of a stretch man. Seiko can get away with sizes up to 45mm just fine because they usually put shorter lugs on the watch which isn't the case all for navitimers. I recommend actually trying out the watch before buying it.

>What's with the Rolex trolling?
About 2.5 years ago a mentally deranged faggot got enormously booty blasted that he got repeatedly proven wrong and made fun of on /wt/ for posting stupid opinions and sperging out defending them whenever someone corrected his idiocy.

He got so mad about it he has spent the subsequent 2.5 years of his life perma-trolling these threads, driving them off /g/ to this shithole of a board and spends his every waking moment in here shitposting. Without exaggeration about 50-70% of the posts in /wt/ are trollposts from that dude plus a few more people who join in here and there.

Since his main goal is to ruin /wt/ for the posters from back in the day on /g/, anti-Seiko trolling, calling everyone poor, and shitting on any watch not a Patek, a stainless sports Rolex or an Omega Speedmaster Professional amuses him, because he's tarring /wt/ in the very mindless buypig brand whoring whose absence used to make /wt/ what it was.

That guy, and mayble 1-2 more people, have been posting 150+ times a thread for 2.5+ years now in this insane sperg out jihad.

Aren't Khakis automatic though? Probably won't find an onion crown that fits on the Khaki tube so you're going to need a new tube, crown, gasket, and maybe a new stem. Not sure what the movement is on the Khaki but a watchmaker would just remove the old tube, rethread the hole for the new tube, thread new tube, fit stem on the crown, insert, and done. Start searching for parts.

>because it's the only Seamaster that's going UP in value as it gets older
They were made by the million, they'll never be worth much, they'll just increase slowly as the price of the current Seamaster line increases with time. Same as the 5 digit Sub increased as the Submariner line in general had MSRP increases, though this was obviously assisted massively by a demand increases.

Omega is never going to have the same shortage/demand/supply setup that Rolex has going on, so the 2531, though a very nice watch, isn't going to make anyone any money. Unlikely to lose anything, though.

>> No.14280581

>>14280578
Rarity is not directly tied to value at all. The worth of the 2531 comes from being *the first* Bond watch. That's why it is as valuable as much more recent, higher quality pieces. >The worth of the 2531 comes from being *the first* Bond watch.
They aren't expensive, everyone who wants one likely already has one. Goldeneye is a 20 year old film (yes okay it's the quartz version in that but same point), if someone watched that on release and can't afford a $2000 watch by now, they never will. It's the same as 60s-70s muscle cars, prices can only go so high because the people who want them reach a certain age and/or die eventually.

>That's why it is as valuable as much more recent, higher quality pieces. The ceramic ones are going for the same money on the used market
Omega has diluted their brand hardcore with a billion special editions, and no one really likes the plain dial Seamasters. That's why the ceramic ones aren't so hot, and why you can get one on a 72 month 0% deal.

>so it's not connected to inflation or price hikes at all
The price of all things is connected to inflation, that's how inflation works. It's extremely bad for a luxury brand's image to reduce their prices.

They'd be classier if he posted the much more tasteful five and four digit ref versions of the DJ rather than the bloated maxi-case versions with those bloated indices.

36mm, i tried the other sizes up to the jumbo and the 36mm felt the best on wrist out of all of them
it's an absolute tank of a watch, even at 36mm it feels really weighty and just awesome to wear in general
