You don't have to wear Eastern Bloc shit but it's cheap and there's plenty of it, also looks damn good but I've always liked American gear just as much. Do remove any flags of the stuff but that's just my personal preference.

Legitimately don't buy milsurp unless you feel comfortable (fit and mentally) wearing it.
OD clothing makes you look like a slob so try to limit it to slob-oriented outfits.
For example, wearing OD trousers with any top that doesn't have boyfriend fit or look like an older brother's hand-me-downs will make you look mentally retarded - don't bother.

You shouldn't need any formal rules other than "don't wear camoflage pieces or full outfits unless you're larping for airsoft" unless you are a huge sperg - huge spergs cannot be helped no matter how much advice you give them and just shouldn't buy visually different or unpopular clothing ever.
