Depends what sort of smells you like. I’d advise going to a store and smelling a bunch of things, see what you like. It’s very hard for us to make recommendations if you have no idea what you like.

All the stuff that seems like it would be interesting to me like this:
https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Guerlain/L-Instant-de-Guerlain-pour-Homme-Eau-Extreme-11570.html

Are discontinued and I have smelt some stuff at places like Sephora, etc. I really enjoyed Spicebomb Extreme to name one but ultimately I am completely lost.

>> No.14237948

Any frags like commodity moss. I really enjoyed it. Also anything that smells like honeysuckle or snowballs flowers. For men tho

>> No.14237950

>>14237938
Well, if you liked Snicebomb Extreme, perhaps look at some other tobacco scents. Look on fragrantica and look for other scents with similar note breakdowns. That should give you an idea of what sorts of notes you like, and you can go from there.

The only problem is tobacco scents often tend to be very heavy and sweet, so not ideal for summer. You could try Snicebomb Eau Fraiche, that should be light enough for summer, and you might enjoy it.

Really, learning about fragrances is all about learning about notes. Try to find out which notes you like, then you can figure out genres you like, and that’ll give you an idea what sort of scents you’ll like.

That's still around, it's just been renamed to L'Instant de Guerlain Eau de Parfum. It's the exact same excellent juice.

Welp...its kino. It's really kino.
>the whole thing is very light and airy
It starts with a soft, bitter citrus that lasts about 30mins on my skin
>the sillage scores were a meme, for me, it becomes a skin scent as soon as the opening leaves
Then you get a legitimately good Coconut (without the sunscreen smell) supported not overpowered by a semi sweet vanilla. This lasts the majority of the time you'll be able to smell it. Once the vanilla dries out first, the sunscreen smell creeps in.
>maybe with 2 sprays where you'd normally put one, I could see it carrying decently
Finally it ends with a severely subdued sandalwood, almost neutered (you hope for dignified old book and get a few pages) and quietly peters out after about 20mins
>I havent timed the longevity yet, but on my thirsty skin, in GA heat, I dont expect much. Of course carrying the bottle around is a great icebreaker.
Just blind buy it - its 10 fuckin dollars and you get a great gag gift if you hate it, but you probably wont.

You could try Roja Elysium. The cologne is decent but not super complex and performance is only ok. The parfum, though... absolute powerhouse. Citrusy, woody frag that lasts all day easy, and a great scent. It’s sort of like a very high quality mix of BDC and Cedrat Boise with crazy performance.

Worth trying at very least.

Could try Slumberhouse Grev. It’s like one of those little tree pine fresheners with citrus, mint, and clove. It’s a heavy scent, but should be ok for summer if you go easy. Very natural smelling, very foresty scent.

Act fast, though. It’s in stock for now, but it’ll probably sell out soon, and it could be a while before he decides to make another batch.

Hey guys.

Looking for a frag for a college student for anytime of year, any event etc. Also, something that is not commonly worn.
Was looking into L'eau D'Issey Intense, or Channel Allure Homme Sport?
Ive sampled Dior Sauvage (which i found was too boring) and La Nuit de L'Homme (too much of a "night time" scent, and sorta soft)

i find this true even for the cheap frags i like (e.g. LIDGE), and there's a noticeable difference from the mid-tier to high-end imo as well, which i found out when looking for summer scents and sampled AdP Colonia Essenza in the same decant batch as the similar Frederic Malle Cologne Indelebile (I did prefer the AdP as the FM was a bit too soft/white musky for my taste, but man could you tell it was in a totally different class)

I buy 1ml samples and it's more than you think. You can easilly get 3 or 4 wears out of 1ml, maybe 3 or 4 spritzes each time. Enough to know if you like it and to gauge peoples reaction to it. You don't need to apply frag like a turk bathing in it.

What you need to bear in mind is that while 1ml isn't much, 2 or 5 ml is a fucking lot if it's something you hate. I've had a 1ml Bentley sample for months because it's hideous.

>Why do they reformulate perfumes?
There's a number of reasons.

It could be cost. (real ambergris is prohibitively expensive, synthetics aren't.)

It could be for legal reasons. (A particular ingredient has become endangered, like sandalwood, or cruel, like castoreum, or found to be toxic, like oakmoss.)

Or it could be due to changing tastes in the market. (The people don't like X so let's tone that down a little.)

>>14248592
>I always hear that every perfume that has been reformulated has been ruined
99% of the people who say this are just parroting what they read on Basenotes. The pricks there lord their vintage bottles over each other but couldn't tell the difference in a blind test to save their lives.
These numbskulls insist that reformulations are constantly taking place even when the maker just changes the bottle.

Yes but seriously be careful, only do one spray on your chest from like a foot away, one more somewhere else MAX. Kouros has a horrible reputation for smelling inexcusably animalic, due to the fact that people used to spray it on like they'd spray Acqua di Gio, and the result is that the musk notes become so condensed that it overpowers the rest of the frag. It's definitely not of this era, it's a retro soapy floral scent with a huge amount of musk. It took me about a day of mulling it over on a test trip to decide to buy it, and I don't regret it. The ad is fucking badass too, it says "les dieux vivants ont leur parfum" basically you had to be a French Chad to rock this back in the day.
