Need some help, /fa/. I have these pants in grey my wife got off eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/J-Crew-Navy-Blue-34X32-Mens-Slim-Bedford-Pants-/153333433032

And I'm trying to figure out what the fabric is so I can get rid of my half-polyester Kenneth Cole / Perry Ellis trash dress pants.

Some websites call it chino but I don't think that is right because a) it's much finer and b) it's not twill weave.

Just searching for cotton dress pants gives a bunch of cheap-looking chino pants which isn't what I'm looking for, I don't really need to be wearing khakis to work.

Please and thank you, summer is coming and I need a pants upgrade.

Not really true. Getting e.g. MTM or quality cloth is about as relatively expensive (compared to other items) as it's been for the last 200 years or so and real incomes have gone up a fuckload in that time. The issue mainly is that the average person now owns about as many items of clothing as the extremely rich used to, and technology allowing the creation of extremely cheap machine-made garments from synthetic fibers has totally skewed people's idea of what the "correct" price of a given item of clothing is. These shit garments have also totally ruined the average person's appreciation for and even ability to recognize quality in cloth as well as manufacture, but obtaining the good stuff is in fact easier than ever for the average person.

It's an absolute plague I agree

Categorically never buy anything that isn't 100% natural fibres if possible (excluding things that are designed to be made from synthetics - some raincoats, sports clothing etc

Look on ebay for old Ralph Lauren chinos, they usually come relatively cheap in 100% cotton, or buy from more established places: Crombie, Cordings, Ede and Ravenscroft, Brooks, J Press etc

Anyway I think you seem pretty set as far as shoes, but I guess if you want more then maybe add some boots or some canvas sneakers. lmao where the fuck are your priorities if the style of architecture is the only major factor you cared to list? You’ll be happy to know there’s an acceptable amount of gothic revival buildings or whatever, it’s a beautiful town

My biggest tip is to visit first, it’s objectively the best place to live on the Front Range, but that’s not saying a whole lot

If you don’t like outdoor sports or binge drinking there’s not a whole hell of a lot to do. If you’re unattractive you’ll have a bad time; conversely, like 80% of girls on campus are a 7 or above. Unless your parents are loaded or you got fat scholarships it’s retarded to go here out-of-state, the living expenses are also socal tier

If you didn’t grow up in the area you probably won’t get bored of it in 4 years. though it gets pretty dreary over winter and literally everyone gets super depressed. vacations to some beachside town are a necessity

Seriously visit first I can’t tell you how many dumb Stacies I’ve met that just came here based on photos and an overblown reputation for Boulder being a cool place and they fucking hate it

Literally just go to a local tailor. A suit will probably cost you $1000+ even from a not great tailor but that's how every last motherfucker on earth got clothing before WWII, unless they were too poor and bought second hand stuff (you can still do this in major cities, it will be better quality/less worn than in the past as well). It's expensive, yes, but people used to get like one suit per year, that was normal. This is what anon meant by people's standards of wardrobe size having become badly warped.

For a cheaper alternative you can use MTM, ideally a local shop where you can examine the cloth and cuts in person but if you don't live in a city where that's possible, use Luxire, they have a decent trial fit program. If you do this, the work will be outsourced to India or the like, the sewing quality will most likely be lower, and the fit is almost guaranteed to be worse than real tailoring, but at least you can expect good cloth and lower prices.

>I'm new to fashion
None of this is about fashion though, it's about quality, good fit, and ideally, timeless style.

In case anyone cares like I do, I’ve found a shoe that looks very similar to Newman’s in this photo after searching for a while. It’s Sperry’s “Cloud CVO” and it’s supposedly the original deck shoe, so it could very well be the exact model he’s wearing.

Vans authentics are close, but not quite right imo. It’s kind of like sperrys are to vans what chuck taylor 1970s are to regular chucks. Just a few more retro details and better construction overall

I really don't like wearing linen ocbds. I think the Uniqlo linen shirts look pretty good so I've picked up a couple. I also got a merino long sleeved navy polo which feels nice af. I've already got a lot of Panama style shirts which are good so I'm pretty much sorted.

I'm looking at different kinds of shirts for summer and want to know about linen.
Where I live it's usually around 90-100F every day during the summer but I'm morally opposed to wearing short sleeves or t-shirts. I have some oxford shirts that just seem way too thick for that kinda weather.
Is linen a meme? It looks like it wrinkles super easy and I'm not sure yet if I like that look or not. Also, if I do get a linen shirt should it be pure linen or a blend?

>> No.14210371

>>14210084
Oxford cloth is the one true fabric according to wahi revealed unto Kensuke Ishizu (pbuh), perfected by VAN JACKET, and handed down by Teruyoshi Hayashida in the holy and inimitable TAKE IVY. Shari'a dictates that linen is also halal in warm weather, but the hadiths warn that wearing linen becomes makruh during the forbidden months.

>>14210292
Linen is great. Wrinkles are great, wrinkly linen is soft and breezy and drapes nicely and has a good texture. All my linen shirts have been 100% linen, linen-cotton blends are usually a bit heavier and sturdier and seem to be more common for pants or jackets rather than shirts.

>I wanted to ask what shirt + tie combo to use with [the brown suit]
White shirt, royal blue tie. Plain white shirts are pretty much never a bad option and a really rich blue will pop against the brown. Even better with tobacco than a dark brown but it works for the whole spectrum from fawn/buff down to "you really should have just gone with plain charcoal grey here".

>Also, it's a rookie mistake to wear black shoes with brown suit?
Yes. Do not, under any circumstances, do this. Any brownish shade of shoe will work well, as will burgundy, so there's no reason to screw this one up.

Yeah. Here in Paris everyone has little pointy collars. Tbh it mkes you look like a micro-dicked pussy. There's nothing more satisfyingly manly then asserting your authority on others with your thicc and long collar points (at least 3 1/4 inches only) followed by a most satisfying unlined collar roll. I'm talking about a collar that's big and bad enough to NEED to be restrained by a button. Don't even talk to me if your collar rests flat against your chest.

I hadn't bought one before because most don't have a pocket and $140 is a bit much for a shirt. I found this particular one with a pocket and it was on sale for around $100.

It's really nice, the fabric isn't too thick but it feels sturdy, the buttons are mother of pearl, it fits me pretty well. I would probably still go to Kamakura first if they had the color I wanted, but I could definitely buy some more of these when they're on sale especially since BB has a much bigger selection.

I just wish they all had pockets, I don't get the point of making a casual shirt with no pocket and I actually put stuff in mine sometimes.
