And nobody else does. It's very uncommon and stands out. That wardrobe is meant to make you totally bland and unnoticeable, so the ring clashes.

Furthermore, and more importantly if you want to be 'respectable,' once you're out of school you need to have pride in the work you do in the real world, not your college days. Wearing that ring makes you seem overly attached to college, implying you don't have success in the outside world to stand on proudly. As if your 'glory days' were back at state and you never rose higher. Everyone will see that ring and pick up on it.
