People wanted the steel versions because they were cheaper. However many brands push precious metal watches as they made more profit on them so restrict the number of steel watches they make. If no steel Daytona is available maybe that person will walk out of the store with a yellow gold version.

The problem now is that the steel watch demand, and people buying them just to flip it, has driven second hand prices so high it no longer makes logical sense to buy them.

Ordered some Moebius 9000 quartz oil for this one. Normally 9010 is perfectly good for most quartz shitters, but I want the proper oil for this one. 9000 has like 2/3 of the viscosity of 9010. Also the wholesale accidentally gave me HP 9103 instead. Same red color oil, but literally ten times the viscosity (1000cSt vs. 100cSt), so it's useless for quartz movements.

There is absolutely no reason, whatsoever, to own a watch made of anything other than steel besides just showing off wealth to people who don't care. Gold is a soft as fuck metal, it scratches easily and can change shape. Platinum is more retarded because of how expensive it is. If you're dailying a watch it's gotta be steel.
You wear steel if you actually use the watch and want to keep it for a long time. You wear gold if you want to look rich and show off that you can afford gold.

And the only reason to not own a titanium watch is because it's more expensive than steel. Titanium is the superior choice as it's stronger than steel, more durable and scratch resistant while being much lighter.

Are you sure it was the same model? Yes it's nothing special but it's not that bad either. To be honest I needed a (cheap) large diving watch and that was the first one that I didn't hate so simply picked for that reason alone. I've used it for diving many times so it does what I bought it for, not for it's looks or movement.

Just got that hked 1963, the watch is simultaneously both more beautiful than the pictures and uglier, because the hands look really damn cheap but the dial has a very nice texture to it.

I love the vintage diver style of the turtle.

I've cleaned and assembled this Eterna movement more than a week ago, and it didn't want to run. I took another look at it today under microscope and after narrowing it down to either the pallet fork or the pallet bridge I finally found the problem: bent guard pin on the pallet fork.

I've bent it back to being somewhat straight and now the movement runs at 330°, almost dangerously close to knocking. I'll be trying out different positions, but I think I've fixed it. Good thing, because there are absolutely no parts for this movement.

To be brutally honest, the subdial layout is a little bit off since this is really the Datograph movement without the outsize date, so the subdials are in the bottom half of the dial.

I'm absolutely in love with my new parnis. It's kind of a hybrid homage since it has the case shape really similar to a patek aquanaut while the dial style pays homage to the ap royal oak. Overall it's an amazing watch for the money and reliability shouldn't be a problem since has a miyota 8215 inside it. What do you guys think?

I wonder if the reason JDM 7A28's have a Speedmaster clasp and non-Giugiaro models having a Speedmaster-like design, is because Seiko was so sure of acquiring Omega in the quartz apocalypse of the late 70's, that the 7A28 series was originally meant to be a quartz Speedy with an Omega logo?

seiko made their speedmasters for a full decade tho. The non giugiaro ones can have speedmaster clasps too pic related. The tags and the instruction manual also clearly say speedmaster.
