I would be if I got them for full price, as they're functionally just another colorway of the shoe not using premium materials. That being said, I think the normal instapump fury is a pretty comfy, well made shoe. I have a pretty broad selection of pants colors so the ink color isn't really a styling obstacle, and I opt more for linen pants than shorts in summer. I love them for filling a niche in my wardrobe personally.

I'm an academic and present myself in business casual 5 or so days a week, overdressed for modern university life, but I think it's fun.

My two favorite pairs of crockett and jones are at a local boutique cobbler right now getting some topy's put on for a 3 week trip I'm taking for research. I don't want to have a huge bag so I'm packing a pair of Dainite boots, and two nice shoes with topys. I'm gonna skip the gym for a few weeks and wait till I return.

The black shoes are Ferragamo Tramezza bluchers, the "Alen Edmonds" and "JOhnston shell" are both Shell no. 8, the Cambridge and the Bellwood II that I bought NOS from a retired engineer in NC. I don't like the J&M because they have waaayyy too much volume for my foot.

If anyone needs fitting advice for ready made shoes, I have bought and tried on everything from Edward Green to Lobb in the UK to vintage Edwin Clapp, Bostonian, Stetson, and ET Wright in the US, to Vass, Bontoni, and Lidfort in Southern Europe.

Conditioning, polishing, shining and caring for my leather shoes has given me a great deal of satisfaction.

The shoes develop a wonderful patina over time and truly become something with my indelible stamp, more than my footprint, over time.

I have a greater sense of Japanese Aesthetic wabi sabi from caring for my own shoes.

A wealthy couple, who gave me a scholarship in undergrad, gave me a gift pair of the made to order. I sent in my foot on a piece of paper and the measurement (really you can do that!) and they made me a pair of 2 eye formal shoes.

They are like a more elegant version of Aldens. They fit well and make a nice whoosh when I put them on, very glove like shoes, but I couldn't stand to actually spend that much on a pair myself. I'd rather get 3 or so pairs of crocketts brand new.

Lobb has the amongst the best leathers I've seen on a shoe or anywhere. I have a brooks bros leather wallet with Japanese veg tanned leather that's almost as nice.

Next to the lobbs are Lidfort, Tremezza, a Crockett and Jones Adelaide and a vintage pair of ET Wrights.

The Leather on the lobbs is supple, buttery smooth, tightly grained and must all be spine leather because the fuckers barely crease. The patina that came on them is also incrediblely rich and has a color depth one normally only sees in shell. I'm also afraid of wearing them much and never drive with them (pedals in the car have eaten up a few shoes on the tips).

Took the GATs on a long ass walk a few months back and the leather cracked, probably should have conditioned the calf bits

Really it's a matter of security, pay, and flexibility. I don't really have to be many places for very long, just a couple hours a week, and I make significantly more in my field than I probably could in the private sector.

Thanks! Recently I've liked the Yeezy 700s a lot, I'd really want them in the original Wave Runner colorway as well. The Alexander Wang BBall Soccers are also really nice and they're my go-to beater, it's not a super weird looking shoe but has nice details with the upside-down logos and boost heel. The Y-3 Saikous are also great and you can frequently find them 60-70% off on online retailers.

Running shoes in general don’t tend to be very /fa/, functionality first. Hoka One One is a popular smaller (?) brand and Brooks has very good models if you wanna skip Adidas, Nike, Asics and New Balance.
