AHS, to me, is inferior to Versace Pour Homme in terms of scent but performs better. AHSEE is very different in that it has more depth and isn’t as fresh in the drydown, but can also be worn in cooler months.

You’re thinking of ambergris, not amber. Ambergris is actually closer to whale poop, though that’s not exactly accurate either. Basically, sperm whales often eat squid, but their digestive tract can’t break down the squid beaks, so what can happen sometimes is the beaks can get stuck in their gut and cause irritation. I don't normally post about frag comm drama (especially concerning Mr. Clap-spin-pushup) but I feel the need to express my thoughts on JF at least once.

Jeremy fanboys only got into the frag comm because of Jeremy. True frag heads mostly despise Jeremy and his army. Now, some people say that Jeremy has done great things for the fragrance community, as far as boosting it's popularity and commercial appeal... While elements of this claim are true, I totally disagree with it. He didn't do GOOD for the community, he perverted it. He INFECTED it with a huge influx of trend followers and incels who are just looking for magic pills to make them cool/attractive/desirable. He cheapened frag comm by over simplifying it, so that it may be spoon fed to the ignorant and gullible masses (as opposed to those who are genuinely passionate about the art form). In the process, he saw an opportunity to exploit the frag comm and his followers for his own financial gain, by scamming them. First, by getting them to donate money to his Patreon under the guise of "doing fragrance reviewing full time", which he then ran out and bought a Ferrari with the proceeds... And secondly, by running this whole dog and pony show of a fragrance kick starter. From the start, it had "scam" written all over it. Anybody who understands basic marketing psychology could see the red flags. And now... NOW that he released his latest con video, announcing the insane price hike on his fragrance that hasn't even been released yet... NOW his poor, sad, naive fans are starting to turn on him. I can't say I'm surprised. And I certainly don't feel bad for a single one of the people that he's fucked over. A fool and their money.... Well you know the rest.
I give it another year or two before his whole charade flops as hard as Fyre festival.

I do feel bad for Jeremy just because of all the failures he’s had this is the one he’s actually put effort in to. He could have done some amazing things for fragrance as a concept in terms of mass appeal. By that I mean he’s got the looks (relative to the others at least), the presentation and the enthusiasm that he easily rises above the others to capture your attention. He’s probably responsible for a lot of people treating fragrances as more than just a nice smell. He could have done mini-documentaries about fragrances or something. He could have made that his brand. He could take a step back and be a well-respected face when it comes to fragrance both by enthusiasts and creators. Think of all the possibilities he had. And he fucked it up and made all about him. His wants. His desires. His ego. Releasing his own fragrance is make or break for anybody, but when he’s on a knife-edge every single day between success and failure and he does everything right for so long, and then at the last minute takes a hard turn and goes off course.

I feel bad for him, he’s only human and I don’t like seeing people get barrages of abuse, but he’s entirely to blame.

When I started looking for my first fragrance a year ago, I started at sephora and found nothing that appealed to me - same deal, too generic, not my style, etc. Consider going to a higher end department store and sampling some snicer stuff, or alternatively, spending $20 to order samples online. Can someone recommend me a wood-dominant fragrance for summer? Im talking the realistic cedar and sandalwood of tam dao, but lighted and brightened for hot, dry days. Like a hike through pine forests mid-summer.

I havent had huge success with vetiver, so ultimately not a vetiver centric scent.

Rocky Mountain wood was one of the first fragrances I've ever tried - I remember being underwhelmed, but I think it was on the right track with the floral note. Idk.
