The good thing about buying a vintage datejust is that the value is very unlikely to go anywhere but up. I'm not trying to convince you to spend money on something if you really feel like it wouldn't be the right decision for you but in theory you could buy a vintage datejust and if after 6 months you're regretting the decision you could most likely sell it for what you paid for it.
It's certainly a more sound decision objectively that a lot of other things you could buy for 3-4k.

This is simply because pretty much all finishing is done by automated machine, so there's not much apparent quality left.

I think one of the hardest thing to do is the engraving inside the bezel, even that is reasonably replicated but with magnification you can see the engraving isn't as good as the Rolex one.
