I'm thinking of getting a homage of the Nautilus. I'm looking at the bagelsport ones and they look great. However they're pretty much discontinued, although you can still find some on eBay. The Chinese brand that made them apparently has renamed itself Peter Lee and kept producing them. Does anybody know if the ones produced under the Peter Lee name are any different from the Bagelsports? I know Parnis also makes a watch that's very much in the style of the Nautilus, though it has more of a twist and is more expensive. There's also the straight up replica path and with it I could get a watch that's actually nearly as thin as a real Nautilus and have similarly decorated movement, though I'd be looking to pay anywhere from 5-8 times more than the options I discussed earlier. I rally hate the fossil like screws on that case and those silly squares on the dial. Never understood the RO hype. Maybe it was hyped so that fags with money could show off and finally normies could deferentiate it from a rolex sub or some retareded reason.

I googled and so far nothing about marathon replacing them or offering some kind of warranty.
It would have surprised me if they had anything like that. I think you need to buy a new watch every time.
Also, tritium watches are a meme for the mainstream crowd. A regular soldier will have less pain in the ass and more bang for buck with a g-shock with a backlight.
And if people want to larp as super edgy operators then running around with a permanent lightsocurce on their wrist is retarded. It's much easier to take a quick look at your analog watch with a beta light, that's used for reading maps.

You really only have two options for lume if you want it to work more than a few hours. You either get tritium, which even after it's 12 year half life still glows, or you have electroluminescent which requires you to press a button, and drains you battery faster.
Also traditional lume suffered greatly depending on exposure to sunlight, and unless you're spending thousands you can expect it to be nearly worthless in ten years.
>pic related is three watches. Traditional lume (marked with orange trit), Tritium, and Indiglo.

nothing wrong with quartz, but a lot of peoples (including mine) obsessions with watches comes from the mechanical engineering perspective. Fiting all of those complications into a tiny case without relying on any electronic or computerized input is more of a “we do it because we can” thing than something that is necessarily productive. My SNK809 (same moevement as SKX) loses about 5s/d, so I just move it 1 minute every 2 weeks or so. More than likely it's already stopped from lack of wear during that period though, so I don't actually notice it that much.

Lack of handwind is a non issue if you don't spend 99% of the time sedentary. I just wobble it until it starts, set it and let wearing it do the rest.. If hacking is really a must, look into 'backhacking'. It works, surprisingly easily.. Allegedly it doesn't hurt the movement, but I don't really trust it. l

I don't think their lack of innovation comes from laziness. They made a solid, basic movement and a solid, basic case and that's all they needed to succeed. Why spend a shitload of cash developing new movements and interesting new cases and using new materials when people will buy your basic watches in droves. Rolex figured out a long time ago that good build quality and good advertising was all they needed. You have to remember that if you want a watch in an Oyster case with a Rolex movement, there's only one company that makes it. Basically, Rolex makes Rolexes. No need to make anything other than that.

With that said the supercase is fucking abhorrent and should be melted into coke cans.

I'll add to your (you)s.

It is snobbery, for the most part. Quartz are practical and cheap and as good as anyone needs. I own a few midrange Swiss automatics and it is largely out of vanity. Now, watch geeks will tell you it's about the love of the engineering and the horological tradition and blah blah and sure there is some truth to it. But so often it's mostly because they can walk around internally sneering at all the peasants and their "quartz shitters". They've latched on to something most people don't care about and conhinced themselves that their knowledge of the subject somejow makes them superior to others. Have you ever met one of those vinyl records collectors who swear that "It just sounds so much better without that crappy digital degeneration". It is a bit like that. Storing your music digitally is more practical and sounds just as good if not better than records, but record collectors like to feel they've tapped in to some ancient art that the sheeple can't possibly appreciate.
