I always wanted to know this. Today I've seen a guy who dressed very high class. It was an asian man, wearing a blue overcoat, checked gray dress pants, and some elegant shoes, it was slim fit I think, his pants had no taper, the line was straight, but the all the pieces looked so high quality. I think it was the texture of his overcoat, it was strikingly high quality, the perfect tailoring on the pants, and the very clean dress shoes. He also just talked to his driver who also had very well fitting clothes.

Wow lots of mis information in this thread. I am high class, and come from a family that has been for at least 900 years in some branches. Here is my guide for a man:

-the most important rule is to be timeless while still being "trendy" aka dont be avant-guard, dont be #50smenswear
-avoid excessive branding or anything that is recognizable as a brand in general. (think gucci colors)
- dont blatantly overdress, but be well dressed and maybe a little more formal than others. never underdress
-brooks brothers, ralph lauren, saville row, Jermyn street, that kind of stuff are your fits.
-no jewlery besides maybe one ring and a watch. Rolex, patek, omega, cartier, etc but no diamonds. avoid hublot-esque watches
-go for elegant materials, think wool, cashmere, calf leather, suede
-be charming, well mannered, confident, and generally friendly
-Don't be flagrantly flashy. Ok to have a couple items that are flashy but dont wear them often
-avoid looking asian exchange rich, rapper rich, or new money rich. All these specimens want to show their "superiorly" over poors and think that they can buy class


Bottom line: you dont need to prove to anyone that you are wealthy, you require no validation, but you have good taste and appreciate quality.
