Yesterday my brother told me that I had no style and they are right. I know nothing about fashion but I really want to learn.

Where/how did you first start out on your road to being fashionable?

How do you begin to develop your own style and finance it?

I am starting this journey with absolutely no knowledge.

Start by buying fitting basics and from there buy pieces of clothing you enjoy, and work well with the rest of your wardrobe. Sounds difficult, and overwhelming but take it day by day. Look on Instagram/Tumblr/Lookbook, read our sticky and take everything with a grain of salt. Fashion is one part clothing and 2 parts feeling comfortable in your own skin. Don’t spend hundreds of dollars on clothing you know you won’t wear just because someone on /fa/ said it’s necessary. Follow your intuition. In time it’ll develop anon.

For me, the key lies in observation and experimentation, you have to lurk a lot and build a little inspiration album, also go outside and look at what people wear, try to figure out what you like and what you dislike, copy some styles you enjoy and alter them a bit, after a good while you will develop your own style. Don't fall for the designer meme just yet, for now you should restrict yourself to fast fashion and thrifting, unless you want buyer's remorse. Trust me it won't restrict you as much as some people want you to think, some of the most stylish people I know have never bought clothes outside of a thrift shop (except for underwear of course). Most importantly, remember that fashion is about yourself, it's about feeling confident in your clothes, not attracting a gf. Good luck man.
