Are wolverine 1k the only acceptable boots to wear??
I’ve been trying to find a decent boots to wear these days and all sources seems to point me to these.
Although i agree they look very aesthetic problem is i’m canadian and these will set me back half a grand and considering i’m a student that works part time it is a little out of my budget.
So, any recommendations /fa/??

Also boots thread i guess

I own both Wolverine 1ks and Red Wings and like both. The Wolverine 1Ks are not a work boot at all. They are a fashion boot. If people wear them and treat them like a work boot they are going to fall apart. They are made from Horween CXL which is a rich soft leather that isn't meant to take a pounding. The Red Wings are made from a much stiffer more durable leather generally.

Which one to buy? If you're only buying one boot and that's all you're going to wear everywhere then get the red wings. If you're someone who has multiple shoes/boots in your rotation and you want something that you can dress up or down get the Wolverine 1Ks. The Wolverines will work much better in business casual fits than the red wings. Also the Leather will look beautiful especially after some patina.

Okay I am going to help you out here. Literally completely ignore whatever all the /fa/ggots above you said.

I only wore sneakers my whole life. For the last 5 years(literally) I have spent countless of hours during the winter when my feet start getting cold looking for boots. 99% of boots look retarded and autistic, like you're either getting ready to climb some mountains or you are trying hard to be fashionable.
I even bought fucking Chelsea boots to try and hop on the hype before but I returned them because they look like fucking gay women's boots.

In this very moment, I am going to safe you a shit ton of work and headache, and potential embarassment and tell you EXACTLY WHICH BOOTS LOOK NON AUTISTIC, COOL AND ARE GOOD QUALITY.

I do not work for this company, but I think I spend literally 100+ hours looking for boots that don't look autistic so far. So I really feel your pain. Because there are so many trash boots.

There are so many ugly looking boots with massive toe caps that just end up making you look like a tryhard autistic reddit clown.

Unironically the best boots I've found are Thursday Boots. See picture. Sleek, look good and stylish. Apparently they had quality issues a few years back but should be mostly resolved now. Ordered my first pair a few days ago after contemplating for 5 years. Don't listen to the autistic retards on here, boots like Red Wing, etc. will just make you look like a construction worker or a tryhard clown.

As far as mainstream boots go, Viberg's 2030 last & Dayton service boots look the best. Sleek yet understated, no bulky/bulbous toe, great leather and construction. Prepare to pay $500+ for it though; regardless id choose 1 of those over 3 Redwings or 1k miles.

German customs are the biggest nazis in the world. They open EVERY package and have separate lists for product groups from which they can charge you extra. Not trying to stir up an ethical debate here, but that's a very weak argument, considering how anything you consume today creates insane amounts of pollution, waste and toxicity which ultimately ends up in our bodies in some form + there is hardly any industry in the world (ethics aside) that is as harmful, resource-intensive, and uneconomical as livestock. In case you're wondering why those products are cheap, it's because you already pay for them with your taxes, whether you consume them or not, since livestock contractors are one of the most powerful political entities in the world and have a huge hand in governmental legislative.

I'm that vegan guy but I agree with you. Leather has very unique qualities that are hard to replicate. Though I think the real problem is that there is no incentive for research and development to create an alternative, yet.

People like Bill Gates and other major players are investing heavily in lab-grown meat made from cells, simply because humanity can no longer afford the ridiculous toll of livestock farming on the planet. With time, people will evolve and there will eventually be an alternative. For now I upkeep my leather boots in winter and wear fabric sneakers in summer.

>>13977337
>in the sub 200 mark
That's where your problem lies. Leather is EXPENSIVE AF, there is no way around that. You either buy corrected grain/pleather crap or your PAY. My advice: Save up, buy quality, and maintain them well with regular conditioning. You'll fare much better in the long run anyway.

>>13977339
>Is the environmental impact of leather boots worse than any alternative?
Yes. As already stated, there is no bigger fuck-up to the planet and humanity than livestock. Plastic is a problem too, but that is mainly due to companies not giving a shit about environment. Some try to counter like Adidas using using recycled plastic to make ultra boosts etc.

They were pretty beat up and this thread inspired me to apply some wax to restore them.

The material quality is sub par. I own a pair of captains. The layer between the rubber sole and leather upper has lost begun to fray and lose colour after a year.

Are you talking about the heel? It's a leather stack, if you dont maintain it like you would the upper you can have it taken care of at a cobbler. They'll re-dye it and polish it.

Any recommendations for an honest to goodness extra wide basic black ankle height boot, similar to OP?
I'm talking EEE with a generous toebox. My options seem limited to steeltoe surplus and clunker workboot brands.
