In terms of looks, quality, versatility. I don't have a real style, just dress like a normal university student. I have a job at an office. Which pair should I get?

Solovair are, of course, better than Docs, but that's common knowledge

Make sure you get some leather conditioner to take care of them with as well

Perhaps a dumb question but is the lower portion of the boot the exact same between 6 and 8+ eyelet versions?

The 6 looks a lot slimmer, especially around the toe region, but I'm not sure if that's an optical illusion resulting from its overall shortness.
