true for rich people.

As a kid my poor family shopped everything at the cholo and construction worker outfitters. All they sold were pro club everything (plain shirts, hoodies, sweats, anything soft cotton), dickies pants/shorts, levis jeans, flannels, and uniform belts. being brown and poor sucks. Look like a gangster because they have the cheapest clothes.

True, which is why following societal trends too heavily is super dangerous to your perception and understanding of yourself. If the symbols (clothing) you wear aren't rooted in the truth of your reality, it can cause a self inflicted sense of dysphoria and instability around your social identity.
That's all just my theory of course.

>>13939923
To a degree it sounds like it still applied to you back then as well. Your environment is a key element of sculpting your identity, so dressing poor probably solidified your acceptance of your social status and gave you something in common with other poor kids while distancing you from the more well-to-do ones who dressed fancy.

So you're saying he's into leather kink? Cause I swear Nick Jonas was having that for a period of time.

To a degree, yes.

If you don't put any thought into how you dress then that lets people know that you're not trying and don't care about your looks.

If you dress nicely then people know that you are conscious of how you look and you are wanting to pull off an aesthetic you like.

Or you know.... sometimes you just want to be comfy.

but wouldn't you say those clothes are a representation of being brown and poor?

Clothes are a shell. What form of true expression could there be in clothes when you just buy shit fed to you by shops and brands? You can dress well and that wouldn't make you any tiny bit more interesting than you would be if you dressed like shit.

One addendum — youll be more interesting to fashion nerds and less interesting to everyone else who doesn’t care about your hype/32oz raw denim/Fabric sourced from a single alpaca in the Himalayas and tailored by a 95 year old Italian artisan.
