People who try to imitate celebrities fashion usually have no idea why the outfit works, so most usually just pick items that look similar with no considerations for proportion, color choice, cut/fit, and what they'll need to do to make it work on themselves.

Even with attractive people, something that would look good on a tall and skinny clothing model wouldn't look the same as something on an average height athlete, or vice versa. A shirt that might compliment somes eyes and flatter their skin tone might completly wash someone else out and make them look worse.

Not saying being attractive doesn't help with fashion, because it does. But that doesn't mean you can't work with what you've got to be the most attractive you.

If your looking to get laid by dressing well, you have to understand that it's pointless to compare yourself to people out of your league. If your a 6, your not competing with the 10s, your competing with other 6s, and doing all you can will help you get ahead. A guy or girl who takes care of how they look vs someone who doesn't in that respect is almost always the better choice (not counting personality/tastes etc).

Fashion for the most part is for yourself, but wouldn't dressing for yourself mean doing it for the reasons you like? For plenty of people their reason is being attractive for others, and that's fine.
