What's with this rotor rattle on my King Seiko? I got my local watchmaker to tighten the rotor screw a couple months ago and that seemed to fix it, but now the rattling noise is back. Is this a common issue with old Seikos or do you think it could be a worn bearing?

Hello /wt/, i am interested in getting a nice watch. I will admit, i have a very small budget, yet would like a mechanical watch if possible. Also, the problem is that i have pretty small wrists. Are there any good watches that fit this description, or is my budget too constraining? I am open to non mechanical if possible. Thank you, and have a nice day.

Watches were originally worn by women, they were marketed as bracelets. Men continued to use pocket watches until soldiers in the 1800s started strapping them to their wrist. So basically, unless your in combat or a woman then you're just a man wearing jewelry. Men don't wear jewelry.

> Facts
The Seiko 35sq was essentially a prototype that was rushed out the door in December 1969 in extremely limited quantities to technically beat the CEH with the first quartz wristwatch on the market. The Beta 21 was released commercially literally months later and the original 35sq was a disaster; they were extremely unreliable and we're generally recalled and replaced. It really wasn't until the 36 and 37 series watches that Seiko had a successful commercial quartz watch, around the same time as the GP 352 came to market. In the early 70s quartz watches were solidly luxury products (including from Seiko; their very most expensive vfa chronometers weren't nearly as expensive as their quartz watches); it wasn't until years later that they started being affordable in comparison with mechanical watches.

Check out Dan Henry's work, the movements are mecaquartz. They're quartz heartbeats, but there's all the mechanical clockwork doing the hard work - buttons have the tactile snick & the second hand runs at 1/5 beats per second. All this is to imitate true mechanical chronographs, at a low price.

“If you need to tell time, buy Quartz”. Well, what else do you need a watch for? Lol. Yes I need watch, in case I need to tell the time while the phone died. Or when I need to know the time while riding my motorcycle in the rain.

Buying a watch with a purpose for only “art” and “jewelry” is just cringy. Just wear a gold bracelet or something. As a utilitarian man that embraces modern minimalism, this just confuses me.

I’m still interested to buy automatic watch though. Why? Cus I won’t have to change the battery anymore. See? Something we buy, should provide a concrete solution for our productivity.

There are no 60x series watches with sub seconds - or even 56x with sub seconds. You'd have to go to a 400-series or earlier to find a sub-seconds example, which I probably wouldn't recommend unless you're willing to do much more research.

How does it feel when even one of the biggest watch community members admits that "the watch should be the last thing [to think about]" when considering attracting women.

I've had countless experiences with girls and women, they do not even acknowledge my Rolex, Omega or Tudor. The only watch that I have recieved a compliment on was my steel Invicta Diver, my first watch. Women only care about the COLOUR and how well you watch is MATCHED to your clothes (outfit). My relatives plated gold invicta has recieved a lot of attention, more than all my watches combined.

Debate me kunts.
