Just got testers of Maison Martin Margiela I was interested in. Mixed feelings, I really wanted to love them.

>Music Festival
Literally Allading pants mom core, 0/10
>At The Barber's
What is the point of reconstructing the smell that accurately, just interesting, can't imagine wearing it for more than 15minutes 4/10
>Jazz Club
The best out of these three but the vanilla is too dominant and mix too femininely sweet for my tastes 6/10

I get the point, he wants to recreate some settings as accurately as possible, but the fact that you can recreate phone booth smell with autistic details doesn't mean that anyone would like to wear it. CB I hate perfumes does similar things as his credo, but somehow he can make actual wearable perfume out of his olfactory reminiscences of places or scenes. Maybe I picked wrong Margiela's frags, though.

Tempted to buy a bottle of Le Male on sale since I could use a bottle for work and casual use, given very few people I know use frags where I live.

good fragrance for someone seeking a straight up woody scent. to compare with other woody fragrances: encre noire the incense is more prominent, tam dao feels more 'creamy' with its amber and musk, he wood has a floral note to contrast. wonderwood also features conifers, where if you want to compare with oud wood for example, it is still a wood scent, but you will get the oud's medicinal quality. royal oud is less medicinal but a more balanced/traditional composition overall. comme des garcons specialty is having angular or single-pointed composition for lack of better terminology.

Thanks for the report anon. It seems that the theory of MMM fragrances is better than the actual execution. There has been so much hype on here on Jazz Club & At The Barber's on here, but I think as people on /fa/ we are attracted to the name more than the actual quality. I think at this point, these are just mall-tier fragrances hiding in niche packaging and advertising. Margiela was bought out long ago and these are available at every Sephora. I think they are overpriced for what they are.

Because, you don’t respect therapy. Because, You're a scientist. Because, you invent, transform, create and destroy for a living. And when you don’t like something about the world, you change it. And you don’t think going to a rented office in a strip mall to listen to some agent of averageness explain which words mean which feelings has ever helped anyone do anything. You think it’s helped a lot of people get comfortable and stop panicking, which is a state of mind you value in the animals you eat, but it’s not something you want for yourself. You're not a cow. Not the same anon, but recently tried Zara 9.0, never smelled DHP or DHI, but the 9.0 has a slight lipsticky vibe at the start, then it starts going into more of a spicy light leather, honestly the combo smells like sweet dried foresr berries. It's very pleasant. The sweetness isn't all that in your face, but it is very pleasant and plays along with the other notes nicely. Also it lasted remarkably long to my surprise.

Isn't Spice and Wood out of production?

On a side note, went to the city this weekend and tried a bunch of creeds at their counter. Holy shit Viking is magnificent. Why was everybody so assblasted when it came out? To me it's like an uber-high quality niche version of Old Spice. Extremely masculine and very pleasant with great performance (the dude made me a small decant to try). It does smell very sharp for the first hour or so (harsh pink pepper) IF you put your nose right up to it. This is a mistake many plebs make when judging frags. Never stick your nose in it, let the wafts come to you and you'll see how much better it is. Don't even get me started on people who judge a frag from the way it smells on paper. Anyway, sorry for the blog. Just wanted to say how surprised I was that Viking was actually really snice, contrary to the attitude when it released.

I know hooker-fag has a full bottle. How do people around you react to it? Do you wear it often? I know you're all pumped about fucking Tuxedo or whatever atm...

I sperged out yesterday and sprayed some on a paper card, because I really want to delve in and dissect the fragrance. Today it smells remarkably like Terre D'Hermes. I'm positive it's because Fahrenheit was actually one of the first Iso E Super overdoses in history. Really intriguing smell, do spray Fahrenheit on paper if you get the chance, many more hidden notes pop out such as the nutmeg as well. It's a god tier frag with incredible depth, and word has it that 2018 bottles are even stronger than 2015 and onwards.

It’s been a while since I smelled AHS so I can’t be too much help, but AHSEE has a heavier drydown, quite noticeable Tonka. AHS would be good for high heat, but AHSEE wouldn’t be wise on hot days. I wear it even in the winter and it still works. I’d say it’s much more versatile, but less suited to the Summer like the original is.

Hookerfag here.

I wore Viking yesterday, actually. Love it. I agree it is a bit harsh at first, but I like that. Once it settles a bit, you get that cool mint with the smooth cinnamon and pink pepper, and the snice vetiver. Does have that old-school classic men’s aftershave vibe, but much higher quality.

Haven’t gotten too many comments on it, but I know my mother loves that one, and there’s this snice old lady who lives in my building who I help out sometimes, and she complimented me on Viking once. His diehard bootlickers (who aren’t 16 and actually have money) will buy it. A few others will buy it just out of curiosity or for the memes. After that, orders will dry up. It’ll flop just like everything else Jeremy has done.

Exactly. He’s vastly overestimating his own importance. Even a lot of hardcore fragheads have no clue who he is. Literally no one who isn’t super into fragrances knows him. He’s essentially relying on a non-existent reputation to sell a luxury product. I’m not even sure what his business model is. I don’t think his fragrances are even going to be for sale at stores.

Also, again, his fragrance is coming out 4 goddamn days before Christmas. Almost everyone’s already done their gift shopping by then. Horrible time to release a luxury product.

Historically, Jeremy has proved himself none too apt. He failed as a musician, he failed as a model, he failed as a general fashion blogger. Even his current fragrance channel endeavour has been rocky. He’s deleted like half his videos.

It does give it a feminine slant but the rich, dark, almost chocolatey smell that balances it out just enough to make it right for quieter evening wear and more intimate settings. You just have to be mindful what occasion you wear it for to make it work. I think the key is in it's balance, Cafe Rose was similar but it just smelt too light and watery to work as the darker side dies off quickly whereas NdN pulls it off.

Sartorial is great, it's one of the best formal leaning daytime winter/autumn fragrances I've tried to date. I rotate it with GIT wearing that for spring/summer and Sartorial for autumn/winter. It's warm but dry, spicy and rich without being either loud or sweet has a natural smell despite so many and so many synthetic notes. I never thought I'd like a prominent beeswax note in a fragrance but it somehow it works really well as an alternative to going down the path of either a boozy or sweet smelling cold weather fragrance. I'm quite a big fan of Bertrand Duchaufour's work though so it was always likely to go down well with me.

I thought Quercia was quite good but just not really good enough to be a buy as with Leather where there's better alternatives for less, despite it being a good fragrance. Ebano is the only one in the range I really didn't like, I've tried others with prominent ebony notes that worked, but that one just didn't.

Yeah, I was disappointed. From the note breakdowns they all sounded great but what I tried just wasn't to my taste. I'll probably sample the rest eventually though.

Idk, that seems pretty reasonable. Most people don't have a large set of strata to which they assign colognes. I usually just split mine into close encounters, school, and dates. Do you not categorize your fragrances?

I'll give you the basic gestalt. Do people bash the fuck out of it? Yes. Is it warranted? No. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth the price? In my opinion, yes. Is it quality? Yes. It's safe and pleasant. The EDP is the best of the 3 currently. It's smooth, dark, a bit spicy and classy. Don't listen to people who say it's "another generic blue fragrance". It's not. It's a quality fragrance that has good performance without announcing your presence.

Ambra is great but a little austere. Do you layer it with something? I was thinking of mixing it with some patchouli frag to try my attempt at recreating YSL Tuxedo that the hooker anon recommended.
AdP Leather smells literally like a newly produced leather purse, it's just too much. AdP Oud is too soapy for my tastes. I like AdP Ebony but again, I'd need to layer it with something (some berrys or vanilla could lighten the scent).

Yeah, I don't think it's that feminine though, I'd say it's more a evenly balanced unisex. The sharp pepper note, vetiver and dry incense do enough to make it balanced rather than feminine. I prefer it to TF Plum Japonaise which I don't think had anything balancing it out and just smelled like a feminine fragrance, the oud did a bit but it took too long to come out and the first two to three hours on that felt like wearing a womens fragrance whereas Floriental balances out from the start.
