>> No.13920522

Unfortunately neither Chanel nor Dior are commonly available at discounted prices, so for value you're gonna have to look to other brands.
I like Mr. Burberry for a cheap all-arounder that can be found for $25-$35 online. Any of the three varieties (original, Eau de Parfum, Indigo) will do but I think Indigo is the most versatile if you need something that can be worn in warm weather. Also consider Polo Blue Eau de Parfum (not the original Polo Blue) for around $40 on ebay.

To anon from last thread >>13914407
Spicebomb Extreme is heady, warm, spicy, and sweet but thankfully not too sweet. The black pepper in extreme makes it less sharp than the pink pepper does in OG spicebomb. What I get is mostly the spices (pepper, cumin, saffron, cinnamon) overlaying a smooth vanilla base, with a touch of aromatic tobacco. Bourbon is also a listed note, and I get that too, but not in a "boozy" way. Think bourbon if you took all the alcohol out of it and were left with just the earthy, woody spices. Projects like crazy and lasts a long time. I save it for weekends when me and the gf go out. It is too strong for most other "general wear" occasions. Fantastic especially if you live in really cold climates.

Not really. Just because someone looks good doesn’t mean they give good advice. Jeremy gets away with a lot of the stuff he does because he’s good looking. He presents certain fragrances as “if you wear this, you’ll get compliments”, but the reason he gets so many compliments is because of the way he looks. Your average schlub isn’t going to have girls telling him how good he smells every day if he wears Aventus or whatever.

If someone routinely gives good advice and has educated opinions, I’ll trust those opinions. If someone says dumb shit all the time, I’m not going to take them at their word just because they’re attractive.

>Cape Heartache: There's some pine in the opening but then it goes to sweet sugary strawberry, not for me.

>Falling into the Sea: Pretty straightforward citrusy lemony and a bit floral. Kind of generic but the hint of lychee keeps it interesting. I agree that it smells beachy, but also a bit like lemon cleaner. Going to give this one to the GF.

No, the oil is already indistinguishable copy of TF. The problem was that it is attar, so an extremely concentrated perfume. The thing with attars is that they last for extremely long (this TF oil was able to survive easily over 48h and 2 showers) but they don't project a lot. The oil particles are heavy and just don't want to fly around much. That's why you trade off longevity for projection by adding alcohol. It makes way lighter mix that still smells like original oil but thanks to alcohol projects way better. I can smell it now easily from my wrist while writing this post. I mixed the attar with perfumers alcohol in ratio 12:88. For Molecule 01 thing was as easy (since it is just Iso E Super + branding) and mixed it with perfumers alcohol in ration 15:85 and got Molecule 01.

Its about time for me to get a new bottle of Tam Dao. I've been very happy with the EDT and have preferred it over the EDP the couple of times I tried them side by side... but something is telling me to try a bottle of the EDP.

I love the cedar in the EDT and it seems to perform better, but most people seem to prefer the EDP, maybe I'm missing something. Also diptyques parfum bottles are way more aesthetic.

I hope the frag ends up being a fucking hit. I mean a serious fucking hit in all aspects. Longevity, projection, sillage, smell the whole ball of wax and those who got the first batch hold on to them and sell them for thousands 10 years from now after multiple reformulations and Jeremy becomes a fucking fashion icon who speaks tenderly about his #FRAGRANCEARMY and how those who believed in him early in his YouTube career made him who he's become. trump comparison aside, he actually seems to have a grip on marketing on this one. he is already exploiting the batch meme, everyone with a "batch 0" bottle is inevitably going to say its the best. then theres the tiered rollout, which is how to do things these days (just look at crypto). in spite of this seeming competence, i can't help but see jeremy as having floundered in all his vanity projects. fragrance is probably his most realistic shot at having something stable

I just don’t believe a lot of Jeremy’s claims. I very much doubt he rejected like 40 versions of the scent, or that he even had much input in its design. He only announced this whole project this year, didn’t he? And for sure he only had Morillas officially attached for like 6 months. That doesn’t seem like a ton of time to fastidiously craft the world’s greatest fragrance.

More likely, he just told Morillas to just crank out something sexy like L’homme or whatever, said “good enough”, then slapped his name on it.

The whole timeline seems off.

Soon I'll be done with the samples I use now and again for work and to be fair I don't think I'd buy a full bottle of any of them.
VPH comes close because it is nice and light and fresh, but it doesn't last long. I'd buy a bottle of Mugler cologne but its really just literally too soapy for me.
So I've boiled my choices down to Polo Blue or AHS and I really can't decide. Any input is appreciated!

Here's the short (or long) anon:

1. Take what the internet says about a fragrance with a grain of salt. It's all about your nose, trust it.
2. For your stereotype (fa/lit/mu) I would say no, this isn't suitable. I've tried Narciso for Him and not this flanker, but it's just a generic widely available frag. But with that said, I think the whole "fragrance for personality" advice is bullshit, if your nose likes it - then that's your best measure
3. The best way to see what you like is to go out and smell. For generic fragrances like this, that means going to the mall (sorry). It's not recommended to blind buy a full bottle straight away. If you do not want to go in person, tons of sites offer sample packs - check out the links in the OP. I would add that maybe you should check out indiescents too.

Then why wear or do anything that draws attention to yourself if you are unwilling to deal with your social anxiety? Best just sit in a dark room and not bother others if thats your mindset.

So I went to a Christmas shopping this Saturday with a testing strip sprayed with my copy of TFOW. I told a girl at Tom Ford's stand that one of them is an old batch of TW and the other is newer one from their stand and asked for a help to tell me which she preferred. She wasn't able to distinguish them. Had a good giggle

This is what I've found, hopefully someone will find this useful. All of them were widely recommended on fragrantica and basenotes, some are very interesting. In my opinon /frag/ should dig a little deeper into Lalique house than Encre Noire. Cartier and Jacques Bogart houses are also worth some research (the latter has crazy longevity and projection and most of smells are 80s powerhouse'y, so not for everyone). As last time I attached price per ml, but this time preceded by olfactory group and main accords all divided by semicolons.

Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel (oriental woody; woody; $0.10)
Jacques Bogart One Man Show (chypre; woody, aromatic; $0.12)
Jaguar Jaguar Performance (woody spicy; fresh spicy, aromatic, woody; $0.13)
Jacques Bogart Silver Scent Pure (citrus aromatic; citrus, fresh spicy, aromatic; $0.16)
Emanuel Ungaro Ungaro pour L'Homme III (aromatic green; aromatic, woody, fresh spicy; $0.17)
Vera Wang Vera Wang for Men (woody spicy; citrus, fresh spicy; $0.22)
Lalique Hommage a L'Homme (woody spicy; powdery, fresh spicy, ozonic; $0.22)
Oscar de la Renta Oscar for Men (woody spicy; fresh spicy; $0.24)
Adnan B. Ambre Noir (oriental; balsamic, amber, aromatic; $0.26)
Lalique Hommage a l'homme Voyageur (oriental woody; woody, earthy; $0.27)
Lalique L'Insoumis (woody aromatic; fresh spicy, woody, aromatic; $0.28)
Swiss Arabian Noora (oriental floral; honey, warm spicy; $0.36)
Cartier Declaration (woody floral musk; fresh spicy, aromatic, woody, citrus; $0.38)
Cartier Declaration d'Un Soir (woody floral musk; fresh spicy, rose; $0.40; manly rose scent)
L'Erbolario Meharées (oriental spicy; woody, warm spicy, cinnamon; $0.45)
Al Haramain Perfumes Mashkoor (oriental floral; floral, almond; perfume oil)

Then wait until your less busy, bite the bullet, and go do it. It’s the only way. Scent is very personal, something I love, you may hate. No other person can tell you what you’ll like. We can give basic recommendations based on other scents you like, but even then, there’s a decent chance you’ll get something you don’t like.

If you want to get into fragrances, you need to go test them. Simple as.

Tom Ford: Ombré Leather

I really like this scent, a lot. But only after the drydown. When I first spray it, it just smells obnoxious and continues to be so for several hours. But it is so crazy long lived that I can smell it on my scarf for days after and then I love the scent. Can anyone recommend a fragrance that is similar but doesn't have the "basically 100% leather" opening?

I bought myself this a few weeks ago as an early Christmas present and I absolutely love it. Maybe Tuscan Leather? it's a bit sweeter but I prefer the skankiness of ombré better.

Yes that one smells great as well. I find it much smoother and a little less spicy than either of the Spicebombs. And whereas Spicebomb edt has a sweetness that reminds me of cinnamon bubblegum, 1899 makes me imagine Coca-Cola with added spices (in a good way).
