I've got hair very similar to this (currently very small cause of haircut) when it grows out.

This is my first post here because I never really bothered with this board for some reason. I starting fucking my hair when I was 18 something, used a hair dryer with hair wax daily to get up daily. (leave weekends). I've stopped after two years and this is what it looks pretty much.

Should I just stay with the down-straight-hair (don't know what you call the style) or is the product-hair better?

Hi. I have naturally very curly, dry, afro-ish type hair. Since bleaching my hair it's become more noodle-y and right after hopping out of the shower and giving it a bit of a dry it looks like pic related which is me and my hair. Now the problem is when it dries up my hair begins to stick out either sideways or upwards and gets dry and curly.

Is there anything I can use to keep it looking like I'd just hopped out of the shower while also maintaining volume?

Tips on identifying hair type (i.e. oily, dry, thick, hard etc)? I'm sick of buying shampoos only to find that they don't work for my hair.

I have the same shitty hair genetics. Try dry shampoo after not washing your hair for a day or two, play around with shampoos to find one that works with your hair (most likely some variant of "volumizing") and lastly but most importantly get your blowdrying sequence on point by getting a round brush, some good prestyler like mousse or a tonic and try waxes/clays for styling. Hairspray is also mandatory with this type of hair if you want anything to last for longer than an hour. Can't guarantee that these things will allow you to reach your ideal but they should at least get you on your way.

I have a similiar hair structure, with thinner hair. I found that it looks best when I let it air-dry, since I haven't used a blow-dryer in years, with a leave-in containing maple-oil. You need a textured type hair to begin with, know your hairtype Anon and try and learn to love it to begin with and it will love you back. You can use a texture powder (basically powdered glue special for hair) and hairspray while having head upside down and squeeze your hair a bit into balls (gel and wax makes it flat), you can also use those round brushes some people use to blowdry curl hair with and try and use silicone-free conditioner which works wonders on people with curls, good luck!

How long is your hair? Simple long hairstyles are awesome for men with long hair, ponytails do damage the area where you put the elastic, maybe a 'fancier' type of braid is nice for variation like fishtail or a 4 or 5 strand braid, but a Dutch or French braid is very casual which you can make look more masculine by loosening a few random hairs so it looks messy on purpose. Further buns can be nice on men, I usually just use a hairstick because it doesn't damage it as much as other things (am a tailbone hair length fem-anon) I would advice you to check out Long Hair Community for tips, they usually can help allot.

Okay so I embrace the grease. I dont shampoo anymore, i only use conditioner, I also dont shower everyday unless im dirty or stink, it does wonders for hair imo.

Products I use shea moister conditioner and sometimes their leave in conditioner, it will make your curls nice and shiny, after frequent use. I also use hair spray and oil on bad hair days. Sometimes I dont use anything and wake up with good hair lmao

Brush it out wet but then crimp it, as it air dries, with your hands. You can wash your hair every week if you are freaked out by leaving it alone. Either way, when you do wash it, make sure you do a good job and use good conditioner or oils after.
argon oil, coconut oil, etc... If your hair is naturally more "afro" this may not be the best place for advice, but I know there are shampoos and things out there for black hair, just avoid anything with
