Women can pull it off fairly easily. But women in general are seen as cute when they wear eccentric outfits, compared to men who are seen as childish or creepy.

I have a picture of it in my head, so I'm not sure if it'll work or not, but a cape underneath a coat/jacket might work. You would give the illusion of wearing a longer jacket. I like capes too, but I would recommend just wearing a longer coat.

I dunno, the sleeves-but-cut-in-half look just seems retarded and unnecessary to me. At that point is probably just go full cape, tho the belt is kinda nice. On another note though I am so sick of the ~le witchy wiccan majick~ tumblr trend and wish it would just die. 99% of the time it's just girls trying to be unique but in the laziest, most mainstream way possible. Why is this trend being pushed so much, is what I want to know.

kek, that's fashion

thing is these types you talk about have a big presence and loud mouth online, they'll still look marginally unique on the street. it's being pushed because it's easy to innovate in it for a clique of potent buyers (with lots of dosh) that accept anything that is dark. kind of have the same opinion as you but i still think they would be nice to see once in a while

Capes are cool, but also basically impossible to pull off. imo capes are at risk of becoming to the 20s what fedoras were at their peak in like 2012. ie, poorly dressed losers start wearing them because they have this old timey panache connected to them but they wear them with stretched out Walmart denim and a t-shirt with a vault boy graphic on it and soon cape bros will be a meme

If you don't watch your p's and q's, you might force me to give you a dissertation carefully explaining not only why you're wrong but why your perspective is actually part of the cancer that eats away at individual style, and that is an epidemic to the now supersaturated west, which has cannot accept cultural differences at the risk of seeming racist but at the same time has nothing original left to offer other than re-combinations of styles from 30 years ago being resold to the youth who don't know any better. That would be a waste of every precious drop.

>>13872983
One serious thought about this though Anon. You have to look at any thing like this that isn't currently in style and ask yourself what is the primary purpose for such a garment? Think about it.

What are cloaks good for? They protect more precious garments against dirt, essentially. They're useful if you're riding a horse, or on top of a cart. They're useless if you can walk underground to the trains.

What is a cape good for? It elongates the top, providing protection but also a change in the shape of the upper body. A more refined cloak, you could say, a cloak for rich people who don't actually need it. So, you could look at it as more of a style addition than something practical.

Hoods? What are they good for? Keeping your head dry, of course. But the modern man has a hair style that will be utterly destroyed by the use of a hood. For the same reason, wearing a hood while wearing a cap on the head looks stupid. Function over form. The modern man doesn't need a hood, and if he had one, he wouldn't use it because his hair would be fucked.

You can use any of the things you mentioned, you can put them into your wardrobe. But for it to not be larping, you need a practical reason. I got my coat because I wanted a hooded leather jacket due to the shittonne of rain we always get. Everyone here has a hooded jacket of some kind, but leather is extremely rare. So, the purpose is there, and the rest comes along with it.

If I lived in Las Vegas, this would be stupid.

>> No.13875043

back when i was in highschool some obese chick would walk around in a cape every day, it was some shitty halloween costume one, she wore sweatpants and a tee shirt underneath it and made sure to walk down the halls at a speed that would make the air catch up so she looks like darth vader or harry potter or some other shit, looked awful

Well, to be honest kids in high school are just kids trying to find their identity. Trying shit out all the time...one year they'll dress one way, the next they'll re-invent themselves, it's all the same. But it's mostly because kids can't show their individuality in other ways because school is about conformity rather than anything else (universal education). The way people in high school dressed when I was younger was hilarious, and I almost miss those days just for the mixture and complete unpredictability we could find.

It's only when people grow up and still don't know who they are that I do worry a bit. But that's another problem.

>>13875052
Again...search for the purpose. If you can satisfy the function well, then you can tailor the style to yourself. A poncho is useless if you live in Jamaica or Hawaii or Hong Kong.

These are all very highly specified in terms of aesthetic...they're not applicable at all to normal wear unless you wear the same shit with them all. The first two are essentially 'country-british-aristocracy-shooting party' and the last is almost old Russian serf pre communism core. If you were to pair the last cape with normal clothing, it would look out of place entirely, and if you paired either of the top two capes with anything that wasn't a high collar or 'nice' shoes it would suck.

I realize this applies to a lot of haute, but they're not practical examples of what could work for OP...at least, in my view.
