What’s the most disappointed you’ve been by a fragrance? Not necessarily because of you, but because of what you hoped it would be like.

I currently have By the Fireplace on. I love folk music, blues, all kinds of laid back music that’s good for the colder months. I love wrapping up warm with loads of layers. Basically, I feel like I want to be comfy all the time like this. When I heard about BTF it sounded perfect for me. It does have elements of what I want from it, namely the smokiness, but I feel so let down. I thought it would be darker and more woody like Encre Noire, but instead it’s like chestnuts and marshmallows. I actually find it more sickly than Ultra Male.

theres no universally correct way to spray. it will depend on the strength of the perfume first off. the weakest bottle in my collection i can spray six times and it will project 2 feet and die in 6 hours. the strongest i spray once to the chest and it is still leaping to the corners of the room. most of the time i spray once to my chest, once to one wrists and touch them. frag is more personal to me though, if you want other people to smell you youd want one or two more sprays in a more open area. some people spray their clothes. some people spray the inside of the elbows. experiment with the different ways people suggest and settle on your own routine.

its a combination of several of the ingredients, no doubt. Limonene is a citrus flavorant, The Rosmarinus Officinalis oil is a clear contributor (it would smell similar to rosemary essential oil, no necessarily fresh rosemary oil), and Vanillyl Butyl Ether is a vanilla flavorant (which would add a vanilla scent). If you are looking for a copycat fragrance, look for something with resemary, citrus, and vanilla. I cant help much beyond that, I would just search by those accords on fragrantica and you might be able to find something similar.

I payed 50 euros/100ml, very cheap, and I love it. Very musky and warm. It's a fall scent I would say, but I use it year round. I wear it in the office and I feel great in it, it's not too strong. I would definitely need something more aggressive for the night time though.

Went to the Diptyque counter again today anons. Got samples of:
-34 Boulevard Saint Germain EdP
-Vetyverio EdT

My local counter doesn't have everything but I've tried multiple things and quickly smelled the nozzles of ones I didn't smell. Nothing stuck out at me except for Vetyverio. Then the attendant noted the 34 series and I asked if they had Saint Germain, but they didn't have the EdT and I didn't realize I got the EdP which is a new release. It's over $200 here so unless I fall in love I don't think I'll be getting it. With that said, nothing from Diptyque has struck me very hard, I don't think I'll be getting a full bottle of anything. I want to fall in love because I like the brand, but I should stop trying

Buddy who works there says Zara is gonna discontinue it after the new year, and they're clearing their warehouse now. Also with the Tobacco line, so pick them up if you see them. They're a great clone of fruit batch Aventus.

I don't think they're necessarily a bad thing, but with the few I've tried I've found that it's mainly the top notes where the similarities are, and once that goes the resemblance starts to get less and less. The other problem that seems to be common is that they have crap longevity, but considering they're usually pretty cheap, that's kind of to be expected really.

Interestingly enough, the thing with Thera seems to be the opposite, at least with their most popular fragrances. I've heard a couple of people saying that the longevity on Volcano, a copy of Polo Blue, is considerably better than the original. The single best company for clones is Belcam Fragrances. I kid you not. Their versions of Polo Green, Hugo Man, Drakkar Noir, CK Obsession and Coolwater are amazing. They all last 12+ hours, project like a fucking geyser, and are dirt cheap. You can pick them up at Walmart of all places for about 8 bucks a bottle. Another thing I love about them is their version are from the original formulations. So you get the real powerhouse performance that the fragrance they are clones of had. I can't recommend these enough.

No catch, but not all their fragrances are good. Avoid the polo black and blue. They smell very watered down. Their sauvage imitation called primitively man is good too. Idk if they're just not that popular because my local Walmart always has tons in stock, but it's true that a lot of them smell better than their current formulations. And their performance is no joke. They really do last the whole day. Whatever the case as long as they keep making with the same quality I'll keep buying them. They're 8 bucks. There's nothing lost.

I dont do this. I only buy good frags that last at least 8+ hours and can be smelled with one-two sprays. Because number of sprays doesnt affect longevity, the molecules do not break down more slowly as you spray more, it just does not happen that way. The smell only becomes more intense with each additional spray causing your smell to go from delicious or good to chad miasma.

Kafkaesque is the blog, ALD is Areej Le Dore, EO is Ensar Oud, Giorgio is I believe Giorgio Beverly Hills Vintage Cologne for men. Kafkaesque is good for a lot of niche perfumery.
