chucks are played out imo, but the rest of it makes up for it. aside from the hat and shoes, this is great. my advice would be to get bigger pants with that relaxed sweater to keep the fit consistent. the fit around the thighs needs to be more relaxed but you need to make sure the pants are tapered. the cuffed pants and sleeves work very well. too much grey; ditch the hat and switch it out with a coloured one, a yellow or any pastel coloured one would be fly as hell with this.

Shoes aren't the problem here. Your outfit is a clusterfuck of clashing styles. The shoes and jacket are casual. The shirt and tie are more dressed up, and the pants + belt are target employee core.
Pick one thing to say with your clothes and be consistent throughout your outfit. Avoid more than one accessory while you're starting out too to minimize the number of moving parts you need to think about.

Thank you man- I think you've nailed why I haven't been able to make the jacket work. I thought it'd be a good statement piece in an otherwise dark fit and a way to juxtapose a techy element with my more usual wardrobe. But you're right- it's so long and so bright that it crowds out everything else going on.
I bought it at goodwill for $20 so it isn't much of a loss anyway and it's Prada sport so I can always flip it if I get too frustrated with it.
That said it's my only actually waterproof layer (goretex and seam sealed), so I'll probably hold onto it for practicality alone.
