I sewed this graphic piece of fabric onto a hoodie the other day. It's tilted a bit but I was thinking about adding an embroidery to it to go it

>> No.13753242

I would add embroidery underneath it because it feels really skewed to the top of the hoodie. Obviously if that's what you wanted then leave it but adding something underneath would balance the graphic in a way if that makes sense. Graphic looks cool though, just ground it somehow.

how do I add holes and cut down a belt?
I was thinking of using a drill, for the holes, but what's a good way to cut down a leather belt and make look nice(ish)?

You fucking savage. Just use a leather punch

Okay fine. I thought I could get away with just a drill.

Anybody know how to transfer images on blouses like pic related? Also is embroidery on blouses harder to do than T-shirts?

Depends a lot on the material and how its constructed. Hand embroidery is easy to adjust and not a huge difference if you know what you are doing, machine is a whole 'nother monster and depends on all sorts of stuff. I personally think hand embroidery is always the better choice as a hobby, you can do it to keep your hands busy while doing other things and the results can be very impressive. If you were to pay someone to hand-embroider it would cost a lot in labor.

Don't listen to that idiot, a drill makes cleaner holes than a hole punch in my experience.

So my idea was to make a single line drawing of a face and get it embroided on a cotton blouse. Pic related is a quick mock up of what I plan on doing but with a random drawing I found, but I want the yarn to be a bit flowy by only going through the blouse at a few points

Heat up a knife (one that's not worth anything, because it'll get ruined) until it's red and then stick it in the belt. Do it on the front side so the melted leather spills in the inner side and won't be noticed

It's dope, OP. It's off-center, but it just adds to the DIY factor. I like it and as long as you like it, OP, you just keep wearing it. I give you five /fa/ points.

yeah you are probably right about that, didn't really think about washing at all. I'll give it a shot once I have some sparetime and post it in a /diy/ thread

Asked on a different diy thread: Is using fabric paint a generally accepted option for original designs or should anon utilize a program to creat his design at the expense of a more authentic diy look?

Want to know this as well.

How much was it for printing the graphic?
Is it dependent on the graphic?
Did you go to a mom n' pop shop to print it?
What kind of fabric did you use? Did you bring your own or did they provide?
Is the whole process doable with embroidery patches instead of fabric?

I'm curious because this is exactly what I want to do with one of my articles of clothing.

Use a leather punch or it will not look good. If you don't own a leather punch you can make one fairly easily. You need to find a piece of pipe (preferably steel, but brass can work too) that has the outer diameter of the holes you need made. With a metal saw, cut a piece of about 5cm/2in from it. Put this piece of pipe in your drill and sharpen one end's edge by spinning it against a metal file or sandpaper. Then measure where your hole will go and hammer your newly made punch into the belt, from the outer part of it.

rly love this idea my dude, i've been thinking of doing something similar myself.
re: flowiness of thread, i reckon it's possible but you'd have to tack it down with a (thinner) thread along the way - this way it wouldn't fall away from the shirt/come unstuck

Old /lunarcore/ photo but I tapered a flight suit last year. I think space ew had done similar stuff with cargos years ago, maybekask around next time a thread pops up if anyone has the pics.

A little rough but the texture fits with the idea of feathers, I like it.
