Don't see one about.

Got this Armani bomber thrift for £7, cost me fiver to get patched up with a small fag burn in the arm. Nice quilt on the inside to keep me cosy on the way to work.

>discounted $56 from $150
lately i've been a sucker for bomber jackets that aren't nylon or whatever the shiny windbreaker fabric is. Just got the linen bomber too on sale.

also I am falling for this psychological discount trick. I wonder if this is really "$150"

What colors other than grey would look cool (heh) with this?

We are afraid of the same thing. Eighty dollars isn't a lot for a proper coat and if it doesn't fit me I'll probably visit the local Didier Sachs and ask them to cut it less potato sacky. The costs can quickly compound but it would still cost me a lot less than buying a pure wool coat from the store.

you are an absolute fucking retard. the GA eagle shows up on every armani label to different extents. but especially armani jeans and emporio armani. but ive seen the eagle logo on the back of jeans from the collezioni line, and a while back the giorgio armani line came out with a pair of special edition made in italy jeans with a huge classic eagle logo in solid white gold. i can only imagine how much those jeans originally retailed for. however when you see t shirts or polos that say "giorgio armani" and it has the eagle then theyre mostly fake. ive even seen various subtle hints of the eagle motifs on some armani exchange pieces like their t shirts since the company fully acquired that sublabel in 2014 that label is as real as it gets, or its a really, really good copy

i have collected armani pieces for 10 years and have gotten their clothing at several standalone boutiques and various department stores such as macy's, bloomingdales, saks fifth avenue, harrods in london and galeries lafayette in paris and i can tell you right now the pic related logo appears most on the emporio, jeans and EA7 lines. i can show you many pieces of mine from the armani jeans line with the eagle motif, and you can look up "armani jeans" on google and see countless pieces from reputable online sites such as stuarts london, cruise, mainline menswear, yoox etc. and see countless metal eagle badges on the back right pocket of the jeans and embroidered and printed logos on various articles of authentic clothing like sweaters, bags, hoodies and what have you.

id honestly hate to sound like a know-it-all dick but i dont understand how armani jeans goes under the radar of common knowledge among fashion people when it seems like every other person in europe wears pieces from the brand.

I wish, these are all legit and recent release. I have gotten shit off TaoBao before in hauls (have fake box logos, NMD's and a few other bits) but decided to just blow some cash to fill the void. Tbh the entire cost of everything will be covered by just selling the OW/Nike Blazers which were a pure fluke to win in a raffle. I got everything retail in the picture other than the Sean Wotherspoons.

All 3 pieces are great, and I definitely think you can get away with wearing the dress regularly. The trick to dressing more out there is having a coherent style and sticking to it. If you dress like a thot 90% of the time then yeah, a vintage dress and buckle boots will look like a costume. If on the other hand you're regularly channeling an early 20th century aesthetic, not only will nobody you regularly interact with bat an eye, but wearing those kinds of clothes will feel natural to you and you won't come off as self conscious.
T b h the stuff I posted wouldn't look out of place on a girl at all- The coat is a women's one, oxfords are unisex, and oversized tops of any kind generally lean more towards the feminine.

What do you think about girls wearing multiple styles regularly? I know you said coherency is essential and I'd like to think I don't "dress like a thot 90% of the time" but I definitely don't dress early 20th century all the time haha... The girly romantic stuff like this dress is pretty much the opposite end of the spectrum of my taste from the sleek drapey stuff that you wear; I want to do both but I wonder if it be better to pick one aesthetic and stick to it. I find it difficult to commit to nicer, higher priced/designer pieces because there's so many different things that I want to wear and my taste changes every few months (also I'm poor as fuck) so I just end up with a bunch of cheap shit in like three or four different styles.

>there's so many different things that I want to wear and my taste changes every few months

It sounds like you're still trying to nail down a personal style, in which case, definitely branch out & experiment until you find what works for you. The consistency bit can come later. Also being consistent in a style doesn't necessarily mean wearing the same kinds of clothes all the time, but (and this is gonna sound pretentious af so bear with me please) having a well-defined self concept that comes across no matter what clothes you're wearing. It might be how you style things, how things fit you, how you accessorize, or whatever, but the point is that whether you're wearing a 40s dress or jeans and a tee, there'll be a common thread between the fits that reflects your own sense of self.
The best example I can think of is shui tsang. He's one of the patron saints of the whole SZ/artisanal internet fashion meme and a massive source of inspo for me personally. The guy can rock full yohji or thrifted jeans and a button down, but make both looks entirely his own.

>The girly romantic stuff like this dress is pretty much the opposite end of the spectrum of my taste from the sleek drapey stuff that you wear

I don't think thats the case at all- to me they're both romantic and somewhat whimsical. One is more 1840 than 1940, but they're not diametrically opposed.

>also I'm poor as fuck
Definitely hold off on designer pieces until you've got a better idea of how you want to present yourself. Once you know what you want, try to find it secondhand on eBay/TRR/Vestaire etc.
Alternatively thrifting can be a great way to find high quality pieces or experiment with looks on the cheap. That black Jil Sander coat in my original image? Found it at a goodwill for $35.

Thank you for your helpful advice, anon. Your taste in fashion seems to be quite similar to (albeit much more developed than) mine and I really admire your sense of fit/draping/proportions. Since you're pretty easily identifiable hopefully you won't mind if I pop up now and again to ask for advice? I would rather get it from someone I feel like I can trust to know what they're talking about, I guess.

Also Jil for $35, wtf. I really like a lot of Jil pieces but most of what I see browsing secondhands online tends to be like, office-lady-core blouses and pencil skirts and pantssuits and stuff rather than the more interesting pieces. You must live in a big city or something.

>> No.13763425

>>13763099
No worries. Developing a personal style is an ongoing process involving nonstop trial and error. I still put together tons of terrible fits, and there are some pieces in my wardrobe that I fall flat with every time I try to make them work. As for asking me for advice- sure, I just hope I'm the anon you think I am. I generally try to respond to any questions or serious comments to my posts so there's a decent chance that I'll get back to you if you quote me.

>You must live in a big city or something.
I used to live in Vegas which is where I found the Jil coat. There was a goodwill in a rich part of town that served as the distribution hub for all their stores across the valley. The last few months before I left the city my mom and I would go there weekly as a bonding thing. We found so much good shit I almost felt guilty walking out with it all. That said I've also found great no-name pieces at run of the mill thrift stores in every city I've ever visited. It all goes back to personal style. Once you have an idea of yours, you'll be better equipped to shop individual pieces on their own merits and relevance to your wardrobe than by brand name.
