Is it worth it to wear frags if you work in a warehouse type workplace?
>hot
>poor air circulation
>has sweat stains in my shirt after shift
>co-workers are bums who smell like shit
I feel like the heat, excess sweating and smelly coworkers would clash with the frag smell and make it worse for everyone.

These just arrived today. Tsuki and Kazehikaru. Very interesting fragrances, very distinctly Japanese.

Tsuki starts with a huge blast of mint, then citrus and other herbs start to emerge. You start to get some ginger, and something else I can’t quite put my finger on, something that smells almost faintly urinous. Very refreshing, very heavy on the mint throughout. Dries into something a little soapy, kind of reminiscent of women’s body lotion or shampoo. Hints of licorice. Very interesting stuff.

Kazehikaru, I actually don’t love the opening. It has that sort of musky, old lady potpourri thing going, very heady floral opening. The drydown is very nice, though. Mellows out a lot and starts to smell a little like fruit candy. Very complex. Sort of like sweet, dry, powdery orange. Definitely reminds me of my time in Japan.

I’m pretty impressed with this house so far. I haven’t tried any of their more expensive stuff, but their cheaper scents are quite reasonably priced and smell very natural and high quality. Worth exploring if you’re looking for something with a more distinctly Asian vibe.

I work in a hot warehouse with no air conditioning. In the summer it can be over 90 degrees indoors. During winter it's not bad.
I daily wear fragrance, but I wear conventional department store freshies rather than sweet / warm niche or club scents. Think Bleu, Sauvage, AdG Profumo and similar. Women at my warehouse wear sweet shit and it becomes unpleasant when temperatures are especially high.
Others at my work have their own scent regimen, and I can say it's a lot nicer to run across someone wearing a basic EdT than someone who thinks wearing extra Old Spice stick deo is gonna keep them smelling clean. Those guys inevitably smell like a mix of BO and body wash, which is worse than just smelling natural.
Invest in the crystal deodorant and practice applying it so that you don't stink and don't have deo-perfume scent conflicts. Drink lots of water and shower twice daily.

It's an absolute shame because original CK One and CK Be might have been legit GOAT fragrances. Modern CK perfumes seem almost body spray tier by comparison, like they should be sold at Target. I keep giving them chances and blind buy the ones that sound promising when they hit the gray market. You'd be surprised how hard it can be to find recent CK scents to sample, even in a very large American city.
CK All is reminiscent of OG CK One for just a moment before it settles into 3 hours of paradisone hedione whateverone vagary. All has very little character, which is upsetting for a fragrance intended to stand alongside the icons One and Be.
Eternity Air gets lost among the Invictus Aqua / AdG Absolu / Mont Blanc Legend Spirit crowd. Not terrible, but following the trends while offering nothing unique besides a low price point.
I have CK One Platinum on order because it was like $22 and because I want to keep giving CK chances in the hopes that it can rediscover the magic of its 90's classics. I'm ready to be disappointed again though.

I should add that you don't have to rock Bleu and family year round, though if your winters are mild then there's no problem with that. Scents featuring vetiver, or better yet, patchouli, could be good choices for your cooler seasons. I have a coworker who wears a basic roll on patchouli oil every day, regardless of weather, and he rocks that shit. You could also try Molecule 01 / Molecule 04 for a minimalist daily driver scent, but go light on the sprays. Go light (1-3 sprays max) regardless of fragrance at first if the circulation in your building is really bad as Sauvage will hang in the air even with fans blowing. I wear my scent under my clothes at work to keep it semi-personal and never spray on exposed skin.

Just a circlejerk rabbit hole you don't need to get started down.

Specific to the individual perfume and house. Takes some research. Not all reformulations are bad. The older a scent, the more times it is likely to have changed from its original version, whether for better or worse. You are safer from (still not immune to) the reformulation boogeyman when buying fragrances introduced in this decade.

Very nice. I have the original spicebomb but not the extreme. Is the extreme worth blind buying?

>> No.13730844

>>13730819

It's not a radical change from the original really, just a variation. Probably isn't worth buying one if you have the other unless you really like it enough to want the subtle differences. Doesn't have the same sharp, clear spiciness of the original but it's softer, rich, creamy and smoky but without being sickly. Doesn't really live up to the 'extreme' tag, but it's good and arguably work safe depending on kind of environment you work in.

>> No.13731066

>>13730907

No idea what HdP 1899 is like. But depends with the two Spicebombs if you want something that's richer and warmer but with the same recognizable scent get Spicebomb Extreme. Otherwise just replace it if you'd rather have a fresher, crisper spicy version.

I think the best comparison is with CK One Shock. Spicebomb Extreme is a sharper, more crisp, less sweet, less synthetic and greatly improved version of that's everything Shock failed to deliver. Not the same cherry coke vibe, but a similar spicy tobacco scent made denser and richer with vanilla.

>>13731047

I've got a few L'Eau/Nuit d'Issey flankers but haven't tried that one yet, looks interesting though. Austral Expedition is probably the best flanker beyond the Parfum edition I've come across so far.

>buy a 5ml sample of MFK Grand Soir for roughly the same price
>spend weeks comparing the two scents in an increasingly autistic manner
>make twelve futile attempts a day to convince yourself that while GS might not be worth the 10X pricetag, it's ultimately still a better night-time benzoin-amber-vanilla fragrance
>finally reach zen, and when a missus compliments you on your scent proclaim it proudly that it's Grand Soir
>she'll never learn the truth

Anon, do you ever read the most prominent note of a fragrance on Fragrantica and question if you can at all smell it? I feel like I am incapable of smelling cinnamon. Sampling spicebomb here and all I get is pink pepper and maybe tobacco now that I see it.

desu i only look at the prominent notes listing on Fragrantica secondarily. i think the main accords bar gives a better idea about the impression a scent will have. like say you have two paintings whose primary coloring are reds > blues > blacks, but each evokes completely different thoughts and emotions

Yes very often. Biggest offenders are rose in most fragrances, litteraly everything except some icy musk in SMW, the iris in dhi, everything is dialed down like 95%. However I remember when I first started smelling fragrances I could pick up these notes a lot better. So much they overpowered everything and I actually disliked these 3 but now they are amongst my favourites. It's like my brain filters out stuff I dont like.
I think >>13735125 Is also true for a lot of notes.

Di Ser fag here again.

Wore Kazehikaru yesterday. It’s growing on me. I’m still not a fan of the first few minutes, the florals mixed with the shiso and yuzu are very heady and a touch medicinal. I like it a lot after a couple minutes when it starts to mellow out a bit, though. Becomes something kind of exotic and very interesting. Very natural smelling as well.

I think imma have to cop more from this house. Mizu seems nice.

It's so close to Sauvage though, and not to be that guy but Sauvage is becoming very common. At my work there are at least 3 guys wearing it on any given day. I used to be able to isolate the source of the Sauvage chad misama, but now it's everywhere. I'd be afraid to rep Carbon at work for fear of being seen as following the crowd.
