Tudor have some nice dressy but 100m wr with screw-down crown watches that are forgotten with all the in-house and Black Bay hype. They are equipped with top grade ETA 2824 (date), 2834 (day and date) or 2892+modules (complications).

This is one of them, (2892+big date module). But the fluted bezel Tudor Style(2824 date only) is very good looking too. Specially the one with the yellow gold bezel (is finished as unreal as a Rolex DJ's).

What do you guys think about those?

These are so fucking hard to set up after reassembling. I managed to finally get it to tick. Backwards.

The service sheet actually tells me not to touch any of the eccentrics, and I did not on the other one I have. That runs fine, but it needs a new seconds hand, since the original had a split tube.

I have one of Zeppelin's alarm chronographs.

Pros: very beautiful dial. Very easy to read. Feels solid on the wrist. All the hands land exactly on each and every marker, not between. Very precise. I've also gotten a few compliments while wearing them.

Cons: the lume is so-so. The case finishing is awful. Looks like a cheap stainless steel knife. There's an ugly QR code engraved on the back. It's pretty pricey for a Miyota movement, and their automatics are ridiculously overpriced. It's also pretty big at 45mm. Also, I don't think it's really made in Germany.

It's a "shitter" but it makes for a good looking beater watch. If you can find one on sale for less than $300 I say go for it. I don't think they're worth the full price.

You should try to catch a lecture at the horological society of new York. You should also do the watch boutiques on Madison and fifth avenues. It starts at Lange and then you walk south all the way down to Seiko. Takes about three hours to do, depending on how long you spend at each store. Let me know closer to when you're coming and I can tell you which shops to go to. The citizen boutique at times square has chronomasters which are worth a look; rare to see those in the US. If you time it right, you may be able to see a preview of a watch auction at Phillips, Christie's, or somewhere else - they often have neat stuff worth trying on. London Jewelers downtown used to have some cool mb&f pieces on display; I think they've recently sent them to their long island store but you might be able to call them and have them sent over for you to see.

To be honest only high end quartz watches are really able to control backlash sufficiently well to guarantee this. Best would be to go with a quartz watch with a pallet fork, like an oysterquartz. Anything with a 1hz standard stepper motor probably won't quite do.

Rolex watches are only worth the price tag of a Tudor, yet they are priced 2-3 times as much. Obviously Tudor is worth less than that of a Tudor price tag, but not by much.

It is. Because of the ridiculous price of a Rolex.
If you could buy a rolex and a tudor for the same price, then rolex would be better obviously. The sad truth is that Rolex is just a stupid purchase. And this comes from a guy who like Rolex a lot.

Not true.
And that isn't really the point. The idea that Rolex is worth 6000 is just ridiculous to me.

But let me just answer your post, I think when someone that aren't particularly well-off, but more like an average or middle class person with a normal job, when they want a proper watch they might push the limit on how far up in price they should, and they might land on 3000 (probably less), but if they land on 3000 then they have likely pushed their limit a little bit. Just imagine how they will think "I should spend this and that amount of money", and then they will see that some watches they really like will cost a little more, so they irrationally push upwards just a little bit. 3000 is kind of a reasonably place for normal people to land after such a push. It's kinda too expensive for them, I'd say, but they pushed it. 6000 or 7500 for these people would mean that they overspent by a lot. Spending money they shouldn't on a fucking watch... lol, stupid.

i just got a 30m water resist swatch irony model, i brought it to a shop to put a battery in, the guy tested it in a pressure machine on 5m, i know 30m water resistance means you can wash your hands, but you can't shower while wearing the watch, despite this the guy said that i can swim in it, i was like wtf, so i tested it, i swam in it being a not too expensive watch and there was no issue at all, so i guess, if ia watch passes the pressure test on 5m, regardless the claimed resistance, it can be used for swimming
