What's a summer-night fragrance with a fresh, natural scent?

I hate frags with mass appealing, generic, bland, synthetic scents, and my favourite summer scent is L'Occitane Eau de Cedrat, but it's not really a night scent.

Looking for a cheapish fragrance that will last long and give off an aura of masculinity/attractiveness/hygiene.

Here is some information on me.

-Early twenties
-Work at a startup
-5'11
-Light skin with brown hair and brown eyes
-About a 6/10 looks wise objectively
-Fairly feminine face with thick eyebrows
-Fairly muscular

Hope that's enough information.

Oh, forgot, preferably an all season/daily wearable fragrance as I only really want to buy one.

I'm at the office most of the day and there's not many people working there so must be suitable for that type of environment.

If that's not realistic then fall/winter is fine.

>> No.13703963

Typically things that give off a sense of hygiene are fresher, but they don’t last long. Prada L’Homme is extremely clean smelling, and great for the office. It’s not the most masculine fragrance though. Grey Vetiver may be a good one, but it depends what you call cheap. It’s probably on the upper end of the designer price point.

If not, just stick to the classics like Bleu De Chanel EdT.

So I finally tried Ombré Leather after nice review of anon in the last thread and was pleasantly surprised, decent scent with nice performance, not "in your face" as Tuscan Leather, smoother, probably gonna cop a 50 ml bottle.
Tried Dark Lord by Kiian, not impressed. Annoying gunpowder for first 3 hours which then shifts to some sort of polite boozy-leathery mix. Maybe it's more suitable for the mature audience. Also, I was expecting some Interlude-tier performance, but it's just not there, overpowered by TF on my other had. Meh.

>> No.13704289

Indeed, how did you figure that out?

I actually bought Sauvage last week after turning my nose up at it for so long. It smells pleasant and clean so it's one of those i plan on wearing when i can't choose or don't have an occasion for anything else, it's the lazy choice. This is what i was doing with L'Homme, but it just doesn't stick around for long and got a little boring. Perfect work frag though, completely inoffensice

It's a nice classic barbershop scent which smells simultaneously gruff and refined. There's no longevity though so either look into a (really expensive since it's discontinued) bottle of YSL Rive Gauch or look into other barbershop scents. GIT, Cool Water, Drakkar Noir are my top picks for older ones. Newer ones which add some modernity (could be good or bad) include Dior Sauvage and Diesel Fuel For Life (same perfumer as Rive Gauche)

Perfect leather scent IMO, it bridges the gap between masculine, rugged and wearable. The opening is strong leather, which after 20 minutes or so gives way to the base notes while still being there in the background. Very well blended and very smooth. If you want a wearable leather frag it's amazing. Longevity is great too, Aventus gives me 2 hours or so, this one is all day.

Try it on skin though, paper does not do it justice.

FSUK is my go to for samples, well spotted.

Sauvage EDT is longer lasting on me and less heavy than the EDP, also with the EDP you lose a lot of that heady ambroxan opening which really lifts the top notes and gives off that fresh clean vibe. A lot of people that dislike Sauvage (myself included when it came out and up until now) hate the popularity and make it a factor in their bias againt it. As a scent it just works so well, however much i hate the fact that everyone and their dog wears it, but i don't really see it as a fragrance, i see it as something to wear when i just want to smell clean and inoffensive, and not to make a statement, which is what some of my other frags are for.

>> No.13704448

>>13704422
Have you ever found an inconsistency in how their vials spray? It seems to be ok for most of them, but occasionally I get one that just sprays a jet of liquid. Not ideal. Otherwise I can’t fault them.

Thanks though, I might give the EdT a shot. I’m relatively new to fragrances, but surely these things must come in circles, mustn’t they? By that I mean that people love it, everybody wears it, everybody gets bored and moves on. But when they move on surely it becomes a bit more unique again when fewer people wear it?

>> No.13704455

EdT is my favourite of the two. It’s more subtle and seems to last the same amount of time. I just find the EdP a bit pointless really. Past the opening I don’t see any significant difference, at least not to justify paying more.

Never had an issue with them, i actually love the sprays, i think they rival Creed when it comes to the amount they dispense which i like.

I wouldn't worry about that too much, if you like it, wear it, if it works for the masses there's a reason. Plus i'd rather smell of Sauvage anyday than a lot of obscure niche scents, which are technically brilliant, but often only work for certain people or in certain occasions. Next time you're able to, smell Frederic Malle "The Night" (£580 for 50ml) Very exclusive but also very challenging for most people.

Damn, you americans and euros have it easy. I'd bath myself in niche fragrances if I was from any of these places. You should be glad everyday to be born there.

Here a 50ml bottle of a designer fragrance costs around 300 "money" or even more. A bottle of any TF or Creed goes up the 1000 "money" mark.

The fun fact is that the minimum wage is about R$ 954 ($ 233 in today's exchange rate).

To be fair 95% of "niche" uses mostly the same stuff as designer and have inflated value. I'd say go to legit gray market sites for the really pricey stuff. Or if there's a store that sells perfume in your area, you could work there for staff discount / freebies with excess stock.

thx for responding! for me it began with whisky but i began to see the potential connections quite soon. i think the first connection i definitely remember was soneone close to me saying she'd like to spray the bourbon we were having on herself.

these days i'm into both, keep them strictly apart, but budget and esp bottle wise way in favour of the spirits

Yeah there are definite similarities, you can really go into a lot of depth with both and spend a fuckload on money on both as well. I'm swinging the other way at the moment, I've spent a lot of years with whisky and know pretty much exactly what I like and where I want to go, but I'm still pretty much a newcomer to fragrances so have a lot more to explore.

Think of him as a salesman. I don’t know if he’s paid or not, but it’s in his interest to hype things up. All YouTube fragrance channels are glorified Fragrantica pages. The notes don’t change, and it’s all personal preference of one person. Redolessence is the only one I think is worth watching, but even then it’s just one man’s opinion. No amount of research or YouTube videos is a substitute for trying it yourself.

Sometimes things like “Best high-heat fragrance” videos can point you in the right direction, but ultimately it’s on you.

lol, thats a website for people exclusively to complain and for brands to buy negative reviews of competitors. look at any brand:
>Old Spice: rating 1 star 405 reviews
>Crest: rating 1 star 842 reviews
>Gilette: rating 1.5 star 120 reviews
also, take care to read the reviews, many of them are like "this company did not meet reroute my package after it shipped. i demanded to have an immediate refund and never got one. customer assistance wasnt kissing my feet and begging for forgiveness! will not be doing business again" shipping issues are not the company's fault once its in the courier's hands. i also noticed a great deal of the reviews are in the run-up to christmas when shipping is at its peak

very few reviews are about the fragrances themselves, and perfume is an even more subjective product than clothes so i am skeptical of claims they are fakes. look at the reviews on basenotes. can we put the "is fragrancenet legit?" question to rest this question once and for all?

>> No.13713184

skin. depends on the strength of the perfume. strong ones i just do one spray to the chest. moderate, a spray to the chest and a spray to one wrist, touching them. a weak perfume ill add a spray to the neck

everyone has their own way. fragrance is a personal enjoyment to me so i spray conservatively. some here advocate the chad miasma and walk in a fog of cologne you can smell from the next room

>> No.13713237

>>13713165

depends on the frag and how noticeable you want to be

i generally spray behind each ear, back of the neck, and one on the chest. if the frag isn't strong or if im going to be in a large open area, same, but one on each shoulder instead of one on the chest
