What's it like regarding scratch resistance? I've heard that it's more prone to scratches than steel but at the same time is easier to polish in order to remove smaller scratches/swirls. All my polished steel links look pretty worn out and I don't even put them under a whole lot of stress so I'm a bit worried about a titanium link looking like trash after a few months. Perhaps some form of brushed steel would be a better choice for me? I'm contemplating a Tudor Pelagos but the whole scratch magnet deal puts me off.

So basically, titanium is significantly less scratch resistant than stainless steel, but it stronger (meaning it resists both plastic deformation and fracture combined better), and much lighter.

It's harder to finish at industrial volumes, but easier to refinish by hand.

Any other questions?

Btw im the guy with the watch and i tell you, its an stunning diving/snorkelling watch. Dirt cheap, light, readable af, reliable af, accurate, ISO certified...

Citizen makes divers for actually diving, not for /fa/ reasons. And anyone that uses anything other than a Casio Frogman or a Citizen (maybe some Seikos too and very few other stuff) as back up for his dive computer, is a moron.

Update on this women's shitter: assembled and oiled it, and it's no good.

Or more like it's too good. I replaced the mainspring with one from another Zarja movement, that should be compatible, but not the balance is sometimes rebanking when dial-up, so it's a bit too strong.

I can't take my mind off automatic watches lately. The fact such complex devices work without any electric part is so cool to me. But they're so fucking expensive. Do these watches last a lifetime or can I assume they'll be dead due to wear at some point? I would assume that the rotor and all related parts will wear a lot more than quartz movement due to being in constant motion while worn, and using spring that are constantly wound and unwound might lose their tension at some point. Seriously if I'm going to spend 300 to 500 bucks for one I want it to last so long I'll be able to pass it down for generations at the very least.

10 years is higher than average for service interval but it depends on the movement and how often it's worn. if you aren't using the watch and it runs out of power that obviously won't cause wear to the movement while it's not running. as >>13697654 said, watches will run longer if serviced but probably still run ok if not. though the amphibia is more of a cheap way to try out mechanicals and see if they hook you rather than an heirloom piece

I have a few watches that I wear frequently, but I don't wear one to work.
I work construction, and if I wore a watch it would undergo a lot of banging, dirt, debris and water.

I was thinking about just using my SKX007 as my work watch, but idk. I know it's a tank, but I don't want to ruin it since it's my everyday watch.
I'm pondering a new watch to use just for work, help me pick one:

>Bertucci A-2T Vintage Black Titanium
Exactly what I'd want, aesthetically, but not sure if it'll take the damage it'll probably be receiving.

>Casio MRW-200H
Cheap as fuck, throwaway watch. Not sure if it'll be able to withstand much, considering the price.

>G-Shock GG-1000 Mudmaster
Easily the best watch for the job. But it's huge, and it's expensive for a watch that I'll be using just to beat up.

If you guys think the Bertucci could withstand hard labour, I'd rather go with that one, but I have no experience with them. What do you guys think of these three? If none, do you have any other good suggestions for an analog construction beater?

>TL;DR: What's a good analog watch that could withstand hard labour as a construction worker?

Hi guys, with tax return and my fiancee's blessing I would like to spend something nice on myself. Budget is US$4,000 max. My requirements are simple: dress watch but not too formal and 40mm max diameter.

That being said, would a Grand Seiko be a great "stealth wealth" kind of watch? I'd definitely prefer something discreet and I'm a weeb at heart so Seiko is a good choice I suppose with their in-house everything? I don't have too much experience with Seiko and the only one that I'm familiar with is an old caliber 5722 that my dad has.

I'm doing some research and this GS SBGV247 really appeals to me. The case design and textured dial looked awesome. It fits my budget as well. However still, do you guys think that spending so much money for a quartz is a reasonable decision?
