So recently I've came to realization I don't have a proper way of dressing I really like most of my clothes but they don't go well with each other. How to establish a style and stop dressing like comic character.

A little more backstory, 20F had a bit of metal phase, still wearing steel-on-toe boots and converse. Most of the time wearing skirts and dresses (with colorful tights and too big Tshirts with prints on them, sometimes of bands).

Did you read the sticky? It's still very helpful for those looking to develop a style.

the sticky has a good guide for starting out, but right now you should focus on getting well fitting, high quality "basics", stuff that goes with anything and will look good in 99% of all situations. From there you just buy stuff you like following the guidelines that tuxbell describes and see what works, what doesn't, and over time you'll get a style going. It's important you do this second step over time; don't just go to zara and buy anything you like unless you wanna waste a ton of money on stuff you won't be wearing in a few months. buy something, see how you like it, adjust taste from there, and repeat until you got your style figured out

I have no fucking clue what the universal basics for the first step would be for women, but for dudes it's usually getting a few T-shirts and a good pair of jeans

Something like pic related would be about right, except they forgot the little black dress. Similar to the minimal-core/"techno interests me" infographic, but for women.

Crazy outdated.

Apart from arguably the blouse and the pumps, nothing here is good.

Why not just go browse the lookbook/catalogue of a shop you like, or ya know, read some fashion magazines/websites/influencers?

Check out a basic store like GU, Uniqlo, Muji. Maybe some magazines like Classy, Ginger, Mina. A website like Vogue. For influencers just click to instagram popular and look around till you see someone you like.

The concept of 'basics' that supposedly work for every style will just cost you money and you will end up with clothes you don't really like.

Pic semi related, use pintrest to develop an inspo board so you can figure out what you need.
