I have a cool german police-surplus jacket but I'm reluctant to wear it because it says POLIZEI on the back. It's not one of the ones from Kommandostore, it's a little different. I'm a burger but am concerned about people giving me a hard time. Am I overreacting? My gf says to just wear it

It's 'Donte', according to the fags here...but it's okay. Do you think I'd disappear entirely, until the end of time? Sadly though, I don't have any updates for you guys about combo direction. The all-black thing works so fucking well that there is no reason to change it, both in terms of look as well as practicality. Come colder weather I'll try to find a low turtleneck or mock-neck, but for some reason in my area they're very difficult to find, and when you do find them, they have logos and sport shit in the worst places (like on the neck, or on over the heart). First world problems...

Well, for what it's worth, make sure you're going to stay at the weight/size that you're at now before buying any new leather. The cost alone is prohibitive, but fit is everything with leather, so you have to make sure you are at a stable size if you want to buy a jacket for long term. Shearling doesn't go out of style really, especially if you're in the market for a military style jacket, so the idea is that you should buy the jacket thinking you'll wear it for the next 10 years or so (that makes the cost worth while).

It took me 3 years to get down to the size I am AND make sure it was stable. Diet, exercise, but also age affects this too. I'm not getting larger or smaller now, and my eating habits are rather predictable, so the long coat became a possibility which it wasn't before.

Good luck though; Aero makes good shearling, as does Wested. It's all expensive, but if you want something warm and that will last, you might as well buy the real thing (fake shearling doesn't hold heat well and it shreds rather quickly).

Some Anon made the pic...it's very sweet of them, so I put it in the collection...

C'mon Anon, no leather jacket? I can understand if you're in the Southern hem., and it might not be the season. But a well-fitted leather jacket really is a very useful part of a man's wardrobe, regardless of if you're looking towards a biker/rogue core or if you do something more formal. No matter what, the material will never go out of style...the actual aesthetic and style however...well, that usually depends on the cut, less so on the colour.

Since the resurgence of 70's style in the 90's and now the more extreme looks towards turn of the century steampunk victorian barbershop bartender look, one can almost go with anything today except the oversized look that dominated the early to mid-90's (like off the shoulder). If it fits your body, then it's in...it's just a matter of deciding if it works with your own aesthetic or not.

What I'm saying (in too many words as usual) is that there are more options today for leather than there have ever been in human history, both in terms of actual mass as well as design aesthetics...fucking great time to live in. Why not experiment?

Fair enough, I'm just gently speculating. I've never been to Finland, but from what I understand it can get cold enough that leather is probably not the most ideal. I hear it's beautiful, and quiet, but I'd probably bring a parka with me for the winter to be honest. Do you see a lot of people wearing leather up there, or is it the usual down-filled synthetics that are better for that climate?

>I still can't find a reason to buy a parka yet...but I know I probably should before the economy collapses or whatever...I'd rather spend money on leather....

Thanks. A few things to keep in mind.

1) Fashion leather jackets in the sleeves should end at the first knuckle of your thumb. Anything higher looks fashionisti. Since the jacket doesn't have sleeve gussets at the shoulders, if you bend your elbow or raise your arm the sleeve will ride up by about an inch or two. If you bought this jacket with the intention of riding, you'd want it to have an extra inch, to end at the first knuckle of your middle finger. No matter what, the sleeves will be difficult to tailor if you must because of the zippers...so beware, and measure accordingly.

2) New Zealand Lamb is fine, you have nothing to worry about. That said, this style of jacket (when made for riding) is usually made out of cow or horse, which is cut thicker and will drape and hang heavier. Lamb is a beautiful skin, but it's very flexible and light which means that the jacket will not look necessarily substantial (hence the exorbitant number of zippers to make up for it). The perception of this jacket when worn will be as a fashion piece, not as an example of serious riding equipment. Plan your fashion accordingly.

Maybe phone them before ordering if you can, just to talk a few things over with them (sizing, etc.). A 4$ phone call long distance may be worth avoiding a 450$ mistake...

Good luck Anon...post pics when you get it! It's a style I love but cannot wear.

I love it...so many possibilities:

>Definition of boomer
>1 : one that booms
>2 : one that joins a rush of settlers to a boom area
>3 : a transient worker (such as a bridge builder)
>4 : a person born during a baby boom : baby boomer

My favorite though is this:

>boomers
>drugs
>a slang term for hullucinagenic mushrooms containing psilocybin
>'where dem "boomers" at?'

Can I assume you think I'm an hullucinagenic mushroom?

In all seriousness, is there anything in my advice that was either untrue or something we should discuss/debate? We can certainly leave animal hide ethics and morels (get it?) out of it...

>If you're buying modern leather jackets, there's no need to condition it before wearing. This has been the case since the mid-90's, so jackets before that era do need more moisturizers (like Pecards). Furthermore, the oils from your skin should keep your jacket okay unless you're wearing it in desert conditions or very dry places. Good luck Anons, and
