There's always rules when to comes to well fitted clothes, but what if that's the not the goal? Of course it shouldn't be Ill-fitted, but it should look right.

Generally, this is how I see it. Contrast makes for a good fit.

>loose bottoms:short top(doesn't have to be tight)
>big shirt:shorts that fit well/pants that are neither tight nor baggy
>big jackets:big shirts are fine, pants of all types are fine
>fitting jackets(not slim shit): pants of all types are fine(cuff?)
Shoes are up to the wearer and should either go well with a fit or contrast it, not some weird in between.

Here's an example of my theory from some reddit lad.

Is it true that most people have to upsize with Japanese brands?

Yeah, I usually wear M but I buy L from asian stores in order to get the intended size, their concepts of shoulder width is also usually smaller than the normal (non-fat) american

Looks like I'm about the same. Some shirts I like have their Japanese models usually wear a size below mine. I'm usually a medium and even then their measurements don't fit my shoulders.

Try Dickies, many workwear and outdoor brands have a wide array of pant fits. Uniqlo U also wont be a bad spot to look.

This is basicaly my look. Loose everything. I buy shirts xl now and my pants on thrift shops cause its hard to find high rise wide leg pants.

My personal rule is if i wear wide pants, top should be a bit big too or at least not tight. Sometimes it works even if top is not big but thats rare.

For loose shirts i try to tuck them when its too long on me.

Doesn't have to be Japanese
And doesn't have to be expensive
A lot of work wear and outdoor wear have most of what you need and you can even thrift.
Japanese brands are popular for this look because there's a bunch that achieve this look with quality and interesting techniques.

i'm a tall(ish) guy [6'2] and have a relatively solid, athletic (especially by /fa/ standards) [wide shoulders, broad chest, strong back etc.]

should i still be wearing oversized/loose/relaxed fit stuff, or do you guys think it is just simply too much fabric to be wearing on a single person?

i'd like to think i look decent in more fitted clothes, but i'm just way more comfortable in baggy shit
