I have 2 pairs actually, I have the pk boost Smiths and I have the second edition pk Smiths which were made in Germany which I forgot to put in the pic. They fit pretty well, although I think they’re a half size too big. I got sized at one store but they didn’t have the sole I wanted so I went and got the same size from a different store, and being handmade there’s slight variation. The model is classic craftsman, craftsman being the shape and classic being the classic leather sole. Would recommend overall, but make sure you try them on, wouldn’t buy online.

They're an investment because I get a ton of use out of them. I don't plan on reselling them, and babying footwear (with the exception of formal shoes maybe) has always seemed silly to me. Your clothes should make you happy, not paranoid about ruining them.
As for affording my collection, I found most of my shoes on grailed/rakuten so I very rarely had to pay full price. The 998s were the closest to retail price, but like all of my other nice pieces, I knew what I wanted to buy and put money aside each paycheck to afford it when it popped up in my size.
Regarding longevity, I've had the 998s for 4 years now and they're built like tanks. They were my first guidi boots and they totally reset the bar for quality construction in my eyes. I've worn them in rainstorms, in the snow, and even doing visual production work, and all it takes is a dab of saphir every few months to get them looking good as new.

Don't worry about your docs too much. Don't wear them every day, store them with shoe trees, and use whatever conditioner you have available when they get too beat.

I've only had the postman's for a few months but they're holding up great so far. The cushioning underfoot is really comfortable though the uppers can be stiff. I still can't wear mine for more than 2 or 3 days in a row before they start digging into the tops of my feet.
Fwiw you can get em for the same price as docs if you're willing to get seconds and wait for sales. That's what I did for mine and the only blemish was the standard punctured tongue to disqualify them from retail sale. They also didn't have any shine to them which suits me fine.
