I’ve noticed that suits have been adopting a more relaxed fit with wider lapels in more fashionable circles (a normie suit retailer will still sell only skinny suits). I’m okay with the change but I still want to wear skinny ties, I love the look of the early 60s as well as somewhat the look of the 20s, the two eras where skinny ties were most popular. I’m wondering if in the future I’ll still be able to incorporate them into my suits and outfits in general without having an ugly lapel/tie mismatch or wearing an unfashionable suit. Inspo and advice will help. Pic related is wider lapels with a skinny tie looking decent together.

People even back between the 1920s and the 1960s wore different tie and lapel widths together. Usually, people tended to wear whatever was most popular, but people could easily wear a fashion forward or increasingly unfashionable tie width with wide, moderate, or narrow lapels on their jackets. Keep wearing the style you like. I'm a fan of the narrow look, too, but also wear moderate and wide ties, especially moderate widths, although occasionally the wider '40s and early '50s tie will get worn with my 2-2.5" lapels jackets and coats.

I love a skinny tie, it’s more of a staple in English suiting thanks to the two tone and mod styles
