Hey there anon.
Clothes that you buy from H&M and Zaras and shit is just going to wear and tear in a couple of months and you'll have to buy more clothes to replace them; It's an expensive, wasteful cycle. Buy high quality stuff and you'll only have to buy them once. IMO this is especially true for things like bottoms, jackets, shoes etc.
One thing I flake on a little is tees, which I mostly buy from Uniqlo, start ups, and occasionally H&M.
If you're poor buy expensive but choose your purchases wisely, that way you'll have clothes to love for years to come.

Fellow /uni/ student here, I usually go to H&M. They always have knock offs of brand items and it's on the more cheap side as opposed to Zara. The quality isn't all that great, but they have form fitting sizes and they do keep up with Current trends. Other than that, you can get lucky if you go to Ross or a thrift store every once in a while.

OP get a cheap used Sewing Machine from a pawnshop or Craigs List/ Kijiji for under $50 and just buy cheap shit from places like Aliexpress/ DH Gate, H&M, Zara, Asos, and Check out Thrift Stores to find the occasional gold nugget esp when you get a sewing machine, you can buy super cheap baggy thrift pants and clothes, and tailor them into something that looks nice and costs less than $5/$10..

For godsakes I went to EVERY SINGLE DollarTree in my city and bought almost EVERY SINGLE T-shirt.

Why? Because EACH shirt was $1.25 which means I got almost 100 Black/ Olive/ White/Lunar Orange/ Navy Blue, shirts for around $100 and they fit pretty well and the quality is pretty good for a $1 dollar shirt, and I bought the baggy ones they had becuase I could tailor them into something more fitted but elongated and its cheaper than buying fabric

Just cause you're a broke college student doesnt mean you have to look like a bum nor does it mean you have to spend an arm and a leg to get cool or nice looking clothes, it's all about the design and are you willing to make fits with it or tailor it into something that's nice

Hide (m) at rosenheimer platz for avantgarde/artisinal fashion
(Its inside a house, youll have to ring the doorbell marked Hide(m) at the address to get in). They have a lot of guidi, layer 0, BBS, lost & found, rick and more (also some more local artisinal designers in the same vain as the above mentioned)
Woman/Man near odeonsplatz is another favorite of mine. They stock rick, Ann D, Neil Barett, Acne, Lemaire, Golden Goose and more.
Schwittenberg which is close to odensplatz aswell stocks some more traditional brands like APC, Dries, Stephan Schneider and MMM

Woman/man and Schwittenberg you can just go in and take a look! I have done so myself many times :) The employees are all very friendly, quite knowledgeable and are likely to be open for a chat if its not too busy.
The guy who works at hide(m) is also really nice and knows a lot about what he's selling. He's very helpful and I've been there as well without buying something (I dress mostly in Rick, yohji etc so I might have looked more like a potential customer there tho). It feels a lot more private and I feel a bit bad about not buying everything after he helped me out, let me try on whatever I wanted and even gave me a free bear once and a glass of some really nice gin another time.

Poorfag general?
I own a jacket that's too large around the shoulders and I'm going to try and fix it after I practice on an old shirt. I'm gonna have to rip off the sleeves and cut the fabric where the arm hole is on the body of the jacket and sew the arm back on, but the problem is I don't know how I'm going to get the sleeve to fit after I cut the fabric since I'll be making the arm hole larger at the top. Maybe I can stitch the armpit area tighter to make up for the enlarging of the hole? Can anyone help me?

This doesnt seem too bad, for the price I was gonna suggest to get a brand new basic singer for $100 but this older sewing machine seems like theres much more stitching options and it looks like it may even have a embroidery option to make your own logos and words so its probably alot better than a new basic machine

just make sure you go to Walmart and get the right size needles and some black and white thread and then watch some youtube vids on how to set it up and grab an old pair of Jean's or a baggy shirt and practice making it into a fitted shirt or pants

I suggest watching KenAndrewDaily in youtube he does ALOT of sewing vids and how to's like making your own noragi and tech pants and zipper shirts etc etc
