Coming from there...

There are almost no proper diving divers that arent huge because of many reasons:

First is that they usually have complications like depth, max depth, inmersion timer, fast ascension alarm (sorry if the tech terms ain those in english, is my third language...).

Also they have to be visible, easy to operate with gloves, tough... and being designed for real diving and no dress, being too big isnt a concern.

They have to "compete" with dive computers more than with Rolex Submariners.

Bonus, Casio Frogman.

Two Type-II's arrived today, both with movements I haven't worked on yet.

The one in the pic can't be quickset beyond the 9th, the date wheel must have a damaged tooth. Though with manually going past midnight it does jump to the 10th. Also the faceted crystal is a bit scratched, but not too bad, I won't replace it with a flat one if I can't find a proper replacement.

The other is missing its sliding clasp, and it looks lo me that it should have a battery retaining plate, but it doesn't. I'll look into that tomorrow.

I still have an AGS (old name of the Kinetic family) on the way, and a pile of watches that may or may not work, that include a 100m Cryston and a fairly recent ana-digi solar Wave-Ceptor. All of these I'm going to take apart and service.

For you.
Worth is a subjective matter. Just in case I need to remind you what you already know; the market will determine the value of a product. Seems to me that by definition, any MVMT or DW is worth exactly what they are charging - to some people. Because people are obviously lining up to spend their money on it.

Now, you're talking to someone who already know what you're gonna say, and I'm not even disagreeing with you, I would never buy a DW myself. But just because you and I appreciate craftmanship and horological history and innovation, or the quality of a movement more than these /fa/nons, doesn't mean that they are wrong to put their money on what they think is worth spending money on. It's ok to like a watch just because of the design, and it's ok to ignore the shit movement inside it. It's not always about the movement or the quality of it that determines how good a watch is - not for everyone. Some people look at the design only to determine what is a good buy.

If you want to buy a watch that shakes itself to death, go ahead. You can get similar watches from Casio, Citizen, Seiko, Timex, or Tissot for cheaper that will actually last.
And DW is a different league to MVMT and however you spell that v one. They are arguably good price for what you get, they don't try to pretend they are something they are not, they are some of the thinnest watches you can get at that price point. They started as cheap shitters but developed to something actually worth their money.

Let's say you start with the cheapest watch, a Casio pope watch. How much more do you have to spend to get a step up that's actually worth it? And if you keep going up like that those affordable luxury watches just don't register at all. They don't offer anything cheaper or better than anything else. And if your all about appearance they aren't the only ones offering that aesthetic, or offering it for the cheapest.

Mass-produced, kinda low-tech movement that's somehow considered luxury. It works well apart from a few design mistakes that the Swiss refuse to fix after more than four decades (but the Chinese already did in their clones).

Although citizen's men's watches are pretty bad, their ladies designs have some nice stuff. There's this, for example. There's also more conservatively styled pieces. Best in class solar, and many even have radio sync, rare for women's watches. In the mechanical space, orient's ladies watches are the best at a low price point. Was just about to say that. That's a disappointment with the pulsar. Yeah the numerals aren't the same font. What do you mean crisp hands and clean date window? Also I wonder if $60 was overpriced because here's a very similar watch for $43.24. Says it's 2mm thicker though.

Early quartz watches had several designs, including those that essentially retrofitted existing designs to be quartz regulated. Luch did a similar thing with their 3055, which added quartz regulation to their electromechanical 3045, since Moscow wouldn't allow the luch factory in Belarus to invest in a real quartz movement.
