Rolex make exceptionally precise and reliable watch movements in a way that easily stomps watches 5x or 10x their price. That said, watches in the 5x or 10x price range aren't really about precision or reliability so much as they are about complications and hand finishing. Rolex styling is very conservative and in some senses basic. They have a reputation as a watch people buy tastelessly as a status symbol, which is true, but they remain exceptionally good watches nonetheless.

So I've never seen anyone use Allan deviation to meausre the stability of a mechanical oscillator, but I wonder if it wouldn't be useful. Obviously the long-term stability in mainspring watches will be very poor as the power winds down, but what kind of stability would be expected in the short-term? I assume you'd want to use full oscillations rather than half oscillations, since otherwise the beat error will dominate.

Very uneffay.
The spanish goverment that represents a large part of the population has some oldschool putrid values directly connected to fascism (and even older spanish values). This has created conflict with more european-centred values of catalonia.

Right now spain has catalonia grabbed by the balls and the catalan gov is acting like a little child.
Overall Id say that there are obvious significant cultural differences between catalonia and spain yet a part of spain refuses to acknowledge it because they are into powerplay.

You had to hold the light button down for light, and in my basic training I had to count down the time like when we were running, but the light button also is also the fucking lap button, and so running in the dark and counting was impossible, and then my commander would make me get on my knees and eat her out

You might be right about the six positions, I was asking because as far as I know Rolex hasn't released the criteria they are currently using, and their service testing manual uses five.

Generally speaking, any of the free sprung 4hz movements made by JLC and by any it the mostly haute watchmakers should be capable of matching the +/- 2 SPD of Rolex, so long as they weren't lazy in adjusting and regulating them. Tudor's in house movement should also be capable of it.

Basically, 4hz + free sprung balances shift most of the challenge from being on the individual watchmaker tuning the timing performance to being on the engineering, precision manufacturing and QC ability of the company. They are harder to manufacture, but much easier to get very good timing performance out of as long as good QC was done and a little time is spent dialing in the rates.

I own the much smaller 34mm. It's unironically my favorite watch.

Everyone time I look at the dial it's like a slightly different watch. If you've ever owned a watch with a dial that changes depending on the lighting conditions, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

It's like if you had a friend who constantly changed their haircut, but every change was cute.

Just a tiny bit of polishing with 1 micron diamond spray applied to a microfiber cloth. Just enough to clean up the careful hand polishing job done by the Japanese seller without going deeper than the scratch marks left by his polishing (which I confirmed under USB microscope).

You have to be incredibly careful about polishing vintage watches, but most especially gold capped vintage watches. I only polished it the little bit that I did because it was obvious the Japanese seller had already hand polished it a bit, so I wanted to clean up his work.

And yeah, it's 36mm but wears much larger than the 36mm 52 KS Special.

Omega raised it's prices about 5x what they were in a rebranding effort to revitalize the brand in the mid-late 80's

Part of the rebranding was featuring it in Hollywood movies.

There was a point in time where an average middle class American could comfortably afford an Omega.

Same with Rolex, but it was a little more.

Patek has always been out of reach for the most part

In fact, whenever you see someone in here posting their omegas or rolexes or other high end watches

Those watches are from the internet, and they're full of Shit

Just look, we have one just now who's posting picture off of internet

You should feel sorry for them,

They larp about rolex and omega, they want them so bad, yet they don't understand that an affordable quartz is better.

They're obviously low tier. How bad do you have to be to get a 0% score on every single section of a Chronometer test? Bet certina would have done better than that.
