I can’t find CH Men Prive in many sites, and certainly no shops near me. The closest shop that has it is nearly 100 miles away. Based on the description it sounds like so,etching I’d like, but do you think it’s a safe blind buy? Normally I’d hate the idea of blind buying.

Whether due to the CK fragrance business being purchased by Coty or because of ingredient restrictions, CK One has changed for the worse over time. While the current version smells similar enough to identify as One, it lacks the enveloping muskiness of the vintage 90's original. I sometimes use my large bottle as a linen / bedding freshener, but I never wear it on skin anymore.

I like to have a wide variety in my collection, although to be fair I've dropped to buying decants/splits. I blind bought Fahrenheit Le Parfum for $85 off of the recommendation of Smells Great. At first I was kinda regretting my purchase, but the dry down is dumb comfy, I really liked it. Nah, /frag/ loves TdH. It's a great scent, generally only youngfags tend to hate TdH because of the vetiver. It's appropriate nearly year-round, and almost any situation. I thought the same thing when I first started getting into fragrances, but once I got older and gained an appreciation of vetiver, it really started to shine.

I wear vetiver fragrances all the time and I've NEVER heard anybody say something like "you smell like an old man"

>> No.13518295

>>13518290
Nah, it's a tad different. It's been a while since I wore encre noire (I own the extreme flanker though), but the vetiver is the star in encre noire. The other notes seek to compliment it and give that dampy forest smell. TdH focuses more on the orange, and the other notes all kinda hang out in the background. So you get orange + slight vetiver undertones, and as it dries down you get cedar + a pinch of pepperness. I think it's more that the vetiver combined with everything else gives that "old man smell" but I love it.

I wouldn't say one is better or worse than the other, but if you can wear Encre Noire with a straightface then I don't see why you couldn't wear TdH.

-Self-confidence, I tailor my scent to my style and unlike what's fashionable, style never dies.

-Fun hobby: I'm starting to make my own fragrances, doing my best to resurrect older scenes and copy new ones and fractions of the cost because the market up on this kind of stuff is stupidly high.

-Social leverage: let's be honest if you smell great, other people will want to be around you because they love smelling nice things, they take pleasure out of it, and it you can give it to them you have just a tiny bit more leverage over them because hate losing thing that they have A) love and B) grown accustomed to. So if you can bring them that type of passive joy they'll remember you just a little more fondly (and scene and memory are very strongly tied)

-Life long joy: I might not be able to wear the super stylish clothing that young people are wearing when I'm 90 but I can use as smell fresh and wonderful. It gives me dominion over how people will perceive me.

That's why I always ask for samples at Sephora, There are enough dotted around my area that I could basically hit up a few and have like 30ml in a week or so. I also ask for a bunch of the little sprayers so I always have a scent with me to freshen up. So while the other guys are worrying about their deodorant failing them, I've planned ahead and am rotating into light scents mid-dinner.

Pro-tip: Always ask for extra, they just hand them out no problem.

I'm looking for a scent for the fall, ideally I want something that still leans on the fresh clean side of things but most notable I want there to be a real spruce smell (I love that smell). I don't know if it's me -as I don't yet hav the nose to distinguish- but I feel like there is a big difference between pine and spruce.

I blind bought the 120 from Fragrancebuy for ~$95 US. I'm not a musk expert, but the closest match to the HdP's musk note in my collection is Bond New York Musk. It is not overtly sexual, yet still very thicc and present. Not like Kiehl's Musk at all, and richer than Body Shop White Musk.

What I enjoy most about 1.1 is the continuous interplay of orange-amber and aldehyde notes that play on top of the musk. It's hard to isolate just one of the top notes, giving the impression that the scent is always moving and sort of alive. Along with CDG 2 this is one of my favorite uses of aldehydes in a fragrance.

1.1 is full of contradictions. It feels like a heavy amber wood scent, yet it wears as lightly and airily as Versace pour Homme. It should be too sweet for summer days, but it wears beautifully in high heat. It makes the initial impression of a people pleasing mall scent, yet it is so much more engaging than your typical Chanel.

Longevity is all day, and I can smell it on myself at the end of work.

It's my recent discovery.
I tried 4 of them (00, 02, 07, 09), gonna buy 00 and maybe 07 in foreseeable future. For unknown reason 00 reminded me of Opus IX which I highly admire, but more wearable.
And to my nose, it was "more jasmine less rose" than I expected before.

Well, I didn't expect this to happen so I guess I'll have to explain it. I don't really own Heroin but I liked how it smelled on me when I tried it (I ordered a summer sample collection, the guy sent me the wrong samples and took forever to send me the tag for me to send it back to him for free, so in the meantime I tried some frags. With that said), I really like the longevity of the fragrances, which come mostly on parfum concentration, and they project pretty well, but I just find most of what I tried (the ones that aren't from the summer collection) too sweet for me. From the six (I think) I've tried the one I liked the most was Time Traveler, which smells kinda herbal to my nose and has some spices and woods.

Many thanks, I was looking to test them specially the summer collection indeed.
Its good to hear about it because from reviews I thought their frags are more into the medicinal area due oud or vintage alike, I will cop 8ml collection after they hit discount again...

I had a sample and didn't really like it, the dense woody-incensy base overpowers everything else. It'd be nice if the wood notes were more unique, but to me it just smelt like the standard woody base that you get in most mainstream masculines, E.g. bleu de chanel.

Sure it is. Buying things that are related to an interest you have is pretty much the definition of “hobby”. Hell, even just shopping itself can be a hobby if it’s something you enjoy and do regularly just for the sake of doing it. But you’re just angry that you don’t have the money to be able to enjoy nice things so this is all really just a waste of my time.

I think the issue is just in that he cannot fathom a reason -other than mental illness- for a person owning more than X amount of fragrances.
I own that many (~30) because I like to wear different ones each season and for different occassions/times of the day. Sure I could own 2-5 and just wear those, but it's like having a small wardobe - it's not as fun or interesting (as it is a hobby for me) for me to wear the same couple items/fragrances each day/season.
I also think the general public considers wearing fragrances an extremely optional thing to do, which makes it easier for people to wonder how/why someone would want/need 20-30+ bottles.
At the same time I look at people with massive collections of fragrances (200-300 bottles) and I think to myself what this anon said >>13528157
.So it's all perspective really.

>> No.13528447

>>13528434
See, the fact that it’s fragrances, to me, doesn’t make the amount excessive. Some people collect. The point of a collection is to have a lot of them. I have a friend who collects shot glasses from all over the world. He has 107 of them and counting. That’s his thing. He enjoys it. I think as long as it doesn’t negatively affect a person’s life (like, they aren’t going into debt doing this shit), then why not? Fragrances are no different from anything else. Shot glasses are an optional thing to own, but it isn’t considered weird to collect those. No reason collecting fragrances should be.

I don't know why people can't fathom different hobbies. In another thread, I watched somebody try to convince me that a hobby is only a hobby if you can talk about it with normies and girls. Who the fuck cares? I like perfumery because of the wide variety of scents and I enjoy being able to describe what I smell now (which I feel like I can do.) A hobby can be anything somebody enjoys doing on a regular basis enough to take an active interest in. No need to overcomplicate it.

I got like 7 fragrances in my collection but recently added like 20 onto my wish list. I've been watching nothing but fragrance reviews the past week.

My question is, should I dive in? To me, collecting fragrances still seems like an incredibly weird hobby to have. I don't want to be known as the weirdo who has 30 bottles of fragrances. I think most people associate fragrances with trying to impress other people, especially the opposite sex. So a big fragrance collection might be interpreted as being insecure or something. Still nobody has to see my collection. I still can't shake the weird vibes I get from fragrance reviewers on youtube who have 100+ bottles, even though they're perfectly normal people. I don't know, maybe it's just me.
