For whoever was asking about good barbershop frags, the HdP is good but it's not the end all. I really like Guerlain Vetiver and the extreme variant, very barbershoppy. I think my favorite is Rive Gauche though, HdP didn't really vibe with me personally.

I fell for the E R O S meme hard, love the design of the frag in my fragrance cavinet and I keep trying to like it, it just seems gross and anoying to me though, there's these short moments where I think I like it and then it becomes irritating. I confused my E R O S spray with the dylan blue frag, I just realized I actually liked dylan blue instead...fuck, I will try to use the frag far away from my neck from now on.

I’m thinking of buying a Tom Ford fragrance, but how versatile are the generally? For example, do you think Tobacco Oud would be appropriate for summer daytime, or even summer nighttime? I don’t want to buy an expensive fragrance and have to wait until the right month to wear it.

>> No.13469537

Currently all I have is Versace Pour Homme. I spray it twice under my neck and by the end of my work day it seems to have completely faded. Is that because I’m not spraying enough or because it’s just a weak fragrance? I don’t want to be that guy that makes the whole place smell, but I don’t want to be the only one enjoying it.

Grey Vetiver is wearable any time of year at any time of day. Oud Minerale is very good for this time of year but while I love it, most people seem to be love/hate towards it or just totally indifferent. Noir de Noir is generally good most of the year round but I wasn't a fan and think it leans too feminine. Plum Japonaise is very nice but also quite feminine and probably not ideal in hot weather. Noir Extreme is good for evening wear, but little beyond that. Cafe Rose is nice but it isn't worth the price for it's longevity. Likewise, Neroli Portofino and the rest in that blue bottle collection just aren't worth touching for the pricetag, regardless of how good they are. Consider any number of Acqua di Parma frags as a better performing, less expensive alternative if you buy from reliable discounters.

Made from an Austrian house that is doing a series of scents based on Belle Epoque Vienna. This one is totally great aquatic scent that changes over hours to different aspects of the sea.

Preaching to the choir about this one. I wrapped up my final purchases for a while with some splits. I might buy a few more bottles come the winter season, but I let this hobby get the best of me.

I love the idea of a signature fragrance, but I also love variety too much. I love earthy vetivers, soapy barber shop scents, sharp citruses, etc. I'll probably hop back on the train once i graduate college in a year.

>> No.13469681

Most of them for work, so my whole collection generally leans formal and more for evening wear. I can get away with away with nearly frag as long as it isn't overkill cause it's a big nightlife/tourist destination and goes down well with some customers. Once got a £100 tip off a regular customer just for wearing Invasion Barbare and telling him what it was and where he could buy it. Although regretted it because he literally wears it 24/7 now and oversprays it even worse than he did with Aventus before I told him about IB.

Of the others usually just wear Al-Rehab Silver and Cool Water around the house and L'Eau Froide when I'm outside a lot at this time of year cause it's got such a great cooling effect, otherwise I wear Ginepro di Sardegna or Oud Minerale as daytime frags. Colonia Essenza is probably my favourite for wearing on nights out atm, although I wear it for evening shifts at work too.

If I really cared about such things I'd use a tripcode. I post threads only so that the general will remain more or less the same as when I first landed here (2015) and to keep up quality standards on an otherwise rapidly degrading board.

As for the OP images, I just look for pertinent brand / fragrance names on Bing image search and choose high-resolution, semi artistic pictures. You can also crawl pinterest or other image sites for good high def perfume images.

Picked up a decant of this. It's nice, but I think the comparison between it and Creed Original Vetiver is a little far stretched. I think the drydown is similar due to the vetiver + bergamot, but the Creed comes off with the vetiver being the star of the fragrance the entire time, while Neroli + Bergamot is the star of Mugler cologne.

It's not bad by any stretch. It's really light and refreshing, but personally I'd rather just cop up some extra cash for Original Vetiver since I'm a Vetiver fag. ~110 bucks for 50 ml on fragnet and I'm sure a split of it is floating around for even less.

>> No.13475001

I really like tobacco frags, but have only tried designer ones such as PH and CK One Shock.
I've heard that Gucci by Gucci PH is a woody tobacco, but am also interested in TV and Herod.
Should I sample all three I've mentioned and buy my fav?

You can buy the EDP, that’ll save you a bit. The extrait, honestly, is completely unnecessary. I get 10 hours+ from the EDP and it projects better than the extrait.

Anybody else match their fragrance to their ties?

For example I'll wear Terre D'Hermes with my Hermes tie, Fahrenheit or Sauvage or one of the Hommes with my Dior tie, Invictus Aqua or Lucky with my Paco Rabanne tie, and so on.

YSL Cologne Bleu has the same ginger dna as original l'homme, just more birght and zingy with a watery twist. Nothing really special. I don't know what to make of Cedrat Boise, I mean my first impression is that it smells nice and asking other people they say it smells really nice too. But the more time I spend with it the more I feel its components are kind of tugging in opposite directions and make the frag confusing. Like on the one hand its got this bright, sweet fruity side, but it also has this heavy, woody, leathery element and it's like the two are tugging at your nostrils for dominance. Plus the fruity aspect isn't really a fresh fruity, it's honestly a little "jammy" and overly sweet sometimes at least for me.

budget frags that I like:

Ferrari bright neroli - real nice neroli dominant fragrance.... not quite as nice as neroli portofino or Ermenegildo Zegna Neroli but its 1/4 the price. Bit like a more orangey mugler cologne with more staying power/silage.

Ferrari noble fig - nice quality fig fragrence. reminds me of fico di amalfi but with better longevity and sillage and 1/4 the price. ferrari are on form!

Armaf tres nuit - nice GIT clone for 1/7 the price

Azzaro visit for men - I like incense and i like wood. this does incense and a lovely, deep cedar for fuck all money

Dsquared potion edp - smooth, spicy, woody, dry cinnamon. I like it but its projection and staying power isn't very impressive for an edp

Ikon Zirh - nice smokey incense that costs nothing and lasts a couple of hours

anyone got some budget frags they want to share??

Great, DHI was the absolute worst Summer choice of that line up. Of those 3 I've only smelt L'Homme and it's fantastic, very versatile. Other 2 am less sure of, but have heard Club de Nuit is a good Aventus clone (Aventus is my signature).

To me it's pretty agreeable and light if you don't overspray. If you're unsure you can go into a department store and try it, should be pretty easy to find, not like the other 2.
